Our Father’s Table

“Taste and see” the pleasant bread daily spread for us at our Father’s table.

Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him (Psalm 34:8).

I delight to sit at His table, and His fruit is sweet to my taste (Song of Songs 2:3).  How sweet are Your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth (Psalm 119:103).

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies (Psalm 23:5).  My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise You (Psalm 63:5).

The poor will eat and be satisfied; they who seek the Lord will praise Him (Psalm 22:26).  They asked, and He brought them quail and satisfied them with the bread of heaven (Psalm 105:40). Men ate the bread of angels; He sent them all the food they could eat (Psalm 78:25).  

And the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces of bread and fish (Mark 6:43).

He makes grass grow for the cattle, and plants for man to cultivate – bringing forth food from the earth; wine that gladdens the heart of man, oil to make his face shine, and bread that sustains his heart… These all look to You to give them their food at the proper time (Psalm 104:14-15, 27).  He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry (Psalm 146:7).  He gives food to every creature. His love endures forever (Psalm 136:25).

So do not worry, saying, “What shall we eat?” or “What shall we drink?” or “What shall we wear?” For the pagans run after all these things and your heavenly Father knows that you need them (Matthew 6:31-32).  When he came to his senses, he said, “How many of my father’s hired men have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! I will go back to my father (Luke 15:17).  Father, give us each day our daily bread (Luke 11:3).

It is My Father who give you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the whole world (John 6:32-33).  Is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ? (1 Corinthians 10:16). Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old yeast, the yeast of malice and wickedness, but with bread without yeast, the bread of sincerity and truth (1 Corinthians 5:8).

Come, eat My food and drink the wine I have mixed. Leave your simple ways and you will live; walk in the way of understanding (Proverbs 9:5-6).  So that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom (Luke 22:30). Now you have tasted that the Lord is good (1 Peter 2:3).

Blessed is the man who will eat at the feast in the kingdom of God! (Luke 14:15).
