Power was never the issue. Authority is the issue. There is nothing that one saint was that you may not be!

We look at this Son and see the God who cannot be seen. We look at this Son and see God’s original purpose in everything created. For everything – absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible, rank after rank after rank of angels – everything got started in Him and finds its purpose in Him. He was there before any of it came into existence, and holds it all together right up to this moment. And when it comes to the church, He organizes and holds it together like a head does a body (Colossians 1:15-18 MSG). God stripped the spiritual rulers and powers of their authority. With the Cross, He won the victory and showed the world that they were powerless (Colossians 2:15 NCV). Christ Jesus is now in heaven where He sits at the right side of God. All angels, authorities, and powers are under His control (1 Peter 3:22 CEV).

God’s power is not limited: one word from God could route every demon in hell. What must be factored into account is that God has decided to work on the earth through man. It takes only a small amount of obedience and trust in Christ Jesus to put the power of heaven at our disposal.

Jesus came to them and said: I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth (Matthew 28:18). See what I’ve given you? Safe passage as you walk on snakes and scorpions, and protection from every assault of the enemy. No one can put a hand on you. All the same, the great triumph is not in your authority over evil, but in God’s authority over you and presence with you. Not what you do for God but what God does for you – that’s the agenda for rejoicing (Luke 10:19-22 MSG).

Christ Jesus is seated in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age, but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under His feet and appointed Him to be head over everything for the church, which is His body (Ephesians 1:20-23). Even Paul expressed this thought as he utilized “the authority the Lord gave me for building you up” (2 Corinthians 13:10).

Not quantity but quality matters with God. It is not the quantity of faith but the object of faith that gives power, because His love for our trust in Him moves trees and mountains. Our task would be overwhelming were it not for the fact that we are relying on God’s strength and ability, not our own. Let’s demonstrate the awesomeness of our God!
