  • Praying for Patience

    Loving God and Father, I am now one of Your chosen people. O God, I acknowledge and accept as fact that I am wholly and dearly loved by You. In response, I will dedicate my time to You, to learn from You. Please teach me how to clothe myself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. “To put on the nature that is mercy in action, kindly in heart, and humble in spirit… and above everything else to be truly loving” (Colossians 3:12 Phillips).

    Let God’s patience have its perfect work — and we come out beautiful!

    I know that a gentle and quiet spirit is very valuable in Your eyes, O Lord (1 Peter 3:4). Your Word tells me: The end of something is better than its beginning; that patience is better than pride (Ecclesiastes 7:8). You also tell me patience as a fruit of Your Holy Spirit that dwells in me (Galatians 5:22).  Please empower me, dearest Father, so I may walk worthy of the calling with which I was called; guide me to be completely humble and gentle; to be patient (Ephesians 4:1-2).

    With Your graces and mercy, I will learn to be patient and kind, to not be puffed up and haughty, to not behave rudely, but bearing up under all circumstances, always believing and trusting, always hoping, and always enduring all things (1 Corinthians 13:4-7). From Your Word, I know we are to be patient teachers of those who are mixed up concerning the truth (2 Timothy 2:24-25 TLB).

    Father, I will exercise faith in Your promises so I may grow in virtue, knowledge and self-control. In this way, I know You will help me to develop greater patience, endurance, and godliness in all areas of my life (2 Peter 1:5-7). I truly want to follow the example of those who through faith and patience inherit Your promises, Father (Hebrews 6:12).

    Thank You for strengthening me with all might according to Your glorious power, so that I may enter into the realm of endurance and patience (Colossians 1:11). Therefore, I will be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer (Romans 12:12). I will learn to rejoice in suffering, because Your Word tells me that suffering produces perseverance and patience (Romans 5:3).

    Heavenly Father, I will hear Your Word and obey it, so I will be able to bring forth fruit with patience (Luke 8:15); by my steadfastness and patient endurance I shall win the true life of my soul (Luke 21:19).  I will let patience have its perfect work in me, so I will be complete, wanting nothing (James 1:4).

    Through Your Spirit, Father, I will run with patient endurance and steady persistence the appointed course You have set before me.  I will keep my eyes on Jesus, who is the Author and Finisher of my faith (Hebrews 12:1-2).  Dearest Lord Jesus, I will patiently watch and wait for Your coming, as a farmer watches and waits for the fruit of the earth to come forth after the early and latter rains (James 5:7).  I will let my patience be on display for all to see, for I know Your coming is near (Philippians 4:5).

    Your Word tells me to rest in You and wait patiently for You, dear God (Psalm 37:7), that if I wait patiently, You will incline to me and hear my cry (Psalm 40:1). So, I will wait on You, Lord God, and I know that as I wait, You will strengthen my heart to walk in patience (Psalm 27:14). 

    Thank You for each promise You have given, for I know every one of Your promises are “yes” in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 1:20).  As I wait upon You, Lord, please renew my strength, that I may mount up with wings like an eagle; when I run, I may not be weary, and when I walk, I may not grow faint (Isaiah 40:31).  With Your grace and mercies, I will walk in the patience You impart to me each day of my life.

  • Praying to Walk in Integrity

    I know, my God, that You test the heart, and that You are pleased with integrity (1 Chronicles 29:17). Your Word informs us that the man of integrity walks securely (Proverbs 10:9), and that righteousness guards the man of integrity (Proverbs 13:6). And You tell us that the righteous man leads a blameless life; blessed are his children after him (Proverbs 20:7).

    Let us display integrity and uprightness to those around us.

    Dear God, I desire to walk in integrity, and to follow its guidance in my life by always choosing to do what is right (Proverbs 11:3). According to my dictionary, Integrity is “the state of being compete or undivided”. To me that suggests righteousness, uprightness, to do without wavering, to be blameless — to have singleness of heart or mind.

    You promised that we could be Your people and You would be our God (Zechariah 13:9); to give us singleness of heart and action, so we will always fear You for our own good and the good of our children (Jeremiah 32:38-39).

    I wish to be like Jesus, who was known as man of integrity that teaches the way of God in accordance with the truth (Matthew 22:16). In everything You give me to do, I wish to set an example by doing what is good (Titus 2:7). I want to be able to stand boldly before You and confidently say: “Judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness, according to my integrity, O Most High” (Psalm 7:8). I want to lead a blameless life, to trust in You without wavering (Psalm 26:1). Like David, I want to help shepherd Your people with integrity of heart (Psalm 78:72).

    I can only do this as I rely on You, for You alone are perfect (Psalm 50:2). Thank You for giving us the Lord Jesus, for by His offering He made forever perfect in Your sight all those whom He is now making holy (Hebrews 10:14 TLB). I confess I am not yet perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me (Philippians 3:12). I want to take to heart Jesus’ words: to (act and do) be perfect [growing into complete maturity of godliness in mind and character, having reached the proper height of virtue and integrity] as You, Father, are perfect (Matthew 5:48 AMP).

    Please, dear Father, forgive my sins of disobedience and teach me the right way to live (2 Chronicles 6:27). Teach me Your ways, O Lord, and lead me in a straight path to You (Psalm 27:11). As You teach me to be true to what is right, I will be able to walk in integrity.  Then, as I to walk in integrity, I will let the Word of Christ Jesus dwell in me richly in all wisdom (Colossians 3:16), and whatever I do in word or deed I will do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to You, Father, through Him (Colossians 3:17).  I realize this is a key to personal integrity in my life.

    O God, keep my soul, and deliver me.  Let me not be ashamed, for I put my trust in You. Let integrity and uprightness preserve me, for I wait on You (Psalm 25:20-21).  Show me Your ways, O Lord, and teach me Your paths.  Lead me in Your truth and teach me for You are the God of my salvation, and I wait on You (Psalm 25:4-5).  Dear Father, Your Word is truth (John 17:17), and it guides me.  Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and light unto my path (Ps 119:105), and I want to walk always in the light of Your Word. 

    I thank You that You promise to uphold me in my integrity and set me in Your presence (Psalm 41:12).

  • Praying to Walk in Meekness

    Heavenly Father, I want to walk in the fruit of meekness (gentleness, humility) (Galatians 5:23).  You promise amazing things to the meek, for You tell me the meek shall inherit the earth and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace (Psalm 37:11), and that they shall experience deep and abiding joy (Matthew 5:5).  The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the Lord (Psalm 22:26). The meek You will guide in judgment; and will teach them Your ways (Psalm 25:9). You, Lord, lift up the meek (Psalm 147:6) and beautify the meek with salvation (Psalm 149:4). You stand up to defend the meek of the earth (Psalm 76:9). With righteousness You judge the poor and decide with fairness for the meek (Isaiah 11:4).

    Meekness is not being milk-toast. Meekness is controlled strength.

    Your Word warns us: Seek the Lord, all you meek of the earth — Beg Him to save you, all you who have tried to obey. Walk in meekness and do what is right; perhaps then the Lord will protect you from His wrath in that day of doom (Zephaniah 2:3 TLB). The meek shall increase their joy in the Lord and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel (Isaiah 29:19).

    And so, as one whom You have chosen, holy and beloved, I desire to put on a heart of compassion, kindness, meekness, and patience (Colossians 3:12). Being one of Yours, O God, I desire to follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and meekness (1 Timothy 6:11); to speak evil of no man but showing meekness unto all men (Titus 3:2); to be beautiful in my heart with the lasting charm of a gentle and meek spirit which is very precious to You (1 Peter 3:4).

    Show me how, Father God, to be clothed with meekness so I will faithfully walk in gentleness (Colossians 3:13).  As I learn this, God Father, I will put on love which is the bond of perfection, and I will let Your peace rule in my heart, and I will be thankful (Colossians 3:14-15).  Your fruit of love is the source and foundation of all gentleness in my life (Galatians 5:22).  Therefore, I will let Your Word dwell richly within me in all wisdom, gentleness, and truth (Colossians 3:16).  With You alongside me, Lord, I will do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to You through Him (Colossians 3:17).

    Father, please let this fruit of Your Holy Spirit grow in me daily as I choose to walk worthy of Your calling (Ephesians 4:1) with meekness of heart.  Through Your mercies, O Father, show me how to walk in an attitude of complete humility, meekness and patience, always bearing with others through love (Ephesians 4:2).  I want to be like Jesus who is meek and lowly in heart.  I willingly take His yoke upon me, to learn from Him (Matthew 11:29).  Father, as Your servant, I will endeavor to walk in this fruit of meekness.  With Your graces I can exhibit the qualities of patience, meekness and kindness while instructing others who are mixed up concerning the truth (2 Timothy 2:25 TLB)

    Thank You, God Father.  With joy in my heart, I now put on the new person, which is being renewed in knowledge after Your image (Colossians 3:10).  I praise You, O God, that I am Your workmanship in Christ Jesus for good works which You have prepared for me to walk in (Ephesians 2:10).  I surrender to Your working, O God, as You cultivate the fruit of meekness in my life.

  • Praying to Overcome Pride

    Father, Your Word says that You hate a proud look (Proverbs 6:16-17), that You resist the proud but give grace to the humble (James 4:6).  Your Word tells me a proud heart is sin (Proverbs 21:4) and that pride goes before destruction (Proverbs 16:18), but humility ends in honor (Proverbs 18:12) and the meek become wise (Proverbs 11:2).

    What do we have that has not been given to us from our Father in the first place?

    I have learned from Your Word that pride leads to arguments (Proverbs 13:10); that he who is of a proud heart stirs up strife (Proverbs 28:25). Pride ends in a fall (Proverbs 29:23). Pride for this life is not of the Father (1 John 2:16), for You, Father, are Love, and love is patient and kind; it is not proud (1 Corinthians 13:4). As Nebuchadnezzar showed us, those who walk in pride You are able to abase (Daniel 4:37).

    You tell me to not be proud, to not be conceited (Romans 12:16). According to Your Word, pride is in the company of “thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, and foolishness” (Mark 7:22). In such company, I so want to refrain from conceit and pride (Psalm 101:5).

    You mock mockers, but give Your grace to the humble (Proverbs 3:34). So I humble myself before You (Proverbs 6:3), asking Your forgiveness and mercy that I may once more rejoice in You (Isaiah 29:19). This is the one You esteem: “he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at My Word “(Isaiah 66:2). So I come to seek righteousness and humility, that I may be sheltered on the day of Your anger (Zephaniah 2:3). What have You ever required of me but to act justly, show mercy, and walk humbly with You? (Micah 6:8)

    You tell us to be completely humble and gentle (Ephesians 4:2). So, I submit myself therefore to You, my God (James 4:7).  Hezekiah humbled himself because of the pride of his heart (2 Chronicles 32:26) and so I come to do the same, humbling myself before You (Exodus 10:3). I willingly humble myself before You, Lord, knowing You will lift me up (James 4:10).

    You guide the humble in what is right and teach them Your ways (Psalm 25:9). You sustain the humble (Psalm 147:6) and crown them with Your salvation (149:4). So, I humble myself under Your mighty hand, O my Lord (1 Peter 5:6).  As an act of faith, I clothe myself with humility and happily receive Your grace (1 Peter 5:5).  With Your Spirit guiding me: I refuse to exalt myself; I will not think of myself more highly than I ought; I will not have an exaggerated opinion of my own importance, but I will rate my ability with sober judgment, according to the degree of faith You appointed to me (Romans 12:3). 

    Father, thank You that You dwell with him who is of a contrite and humble spirit.  You receive the spirit of the humble and revive the heart of the contrite (Isaiah 57:15).  Thank You that the reward of humility and the reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord are riches and honor and life (Proverbs 22:4). With Your graces, O my Father, I will strive to be compassionate and humble (1 Peter 3:8).

    I will humbly accept this word that has been planted in me (James 1:21). Please let Your Spirit guide me to resist pride when it comes. 

  • Praying to Overcome Confusion

    Your Word promises that whoever believes on Christ Jesus shall not be confounded (1 Peter 2:6). In you, O Lord, I will put my trust; please let me never be put to confusion (Psalm 71:1). There are times when I feel with Job that “I am full of confusion” (Job 10:15). Confusion is continually before me (Psalm 44:15), because wherever there is jealousy or selfish ambition, there will be disorder/confusion (James 3:16 TLB). All idols are but wind and confusion (Isaiah 41:29), and Your Word tells us to keep ourselves from idols (1 John 5:21).

    Rest in the Lord, and He will make all things clear.

    Teach me to love Your law, O Lord.  As I do so, I know I will not stumble and I will have great peace in my life instead of confusion (Psalm 119:165).  Help me, Father.  With Your help I know I will not be confused any longer; Your help enables me to set my face like a flint, and I know I shall not be ashamed (Isaiah 50:7).  Not only that, but You have invited me to cast my burdens upon You (1 Peter 5:7), loving Lord; therefore, I cast this burden of confusion upon You, realizing You will sustain me and never let me down (Psalm 55:22). 

    Heavenly Father, thank You that You are not the author of confusion but of peace (1 Corinthians 14:33), and because of You and Your Spirit, I never have to be confused.  For the Spirit will teach me and bring to my remembrance all things You have tried to teach me (John 14:26). I praise You for not giving me a spirit of fear; instead, You have given me a spirit of power, of love and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).  Thank You, O my gracious God.

    There are some people who are trying to throw me into confusion (Galatians 1:7); but I will remain trusting in the Lord to bring me back to believing as I was taught (Galatians 5:10). Through Your grace, I will trust in You with all my heart, and I will not lean toward my own understanding.  In all my ways I will acknowledge You, O Lord, and I know You will direct my paths (Proverbs 3:5-6). 

    I thank You, Father, for always sustaining me.  You keep in perfect peace those whose mind is stayed on You as long as we trust in You (Isaiah 26:3).  Thank You for Your peace which surpasses all understanding; it guards my heart and my mind (Philippians 4:7).  It has taken away the confusion I was experiencing, and I know Your peace will keep me safe through Christ Jesus (Romans 5:1).  Your kingdom is a kingdom of righteousness, peace and joy (Romans 14:17). Thank You for setting me free from confusion, gracious Father. Praises to You, O Lord my God!

  • Praying for Mental Healing

    Father God, the righteousness that comes from You comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference in us humans, for all have sinned and fall short of Your glory, God; and yet we are justified freely by Your grace through the redemption that came by Your Son, Jesus (Romans 3:22-23). Please help me to accept that Your gift of grace has never and will never be relegated by my ability to be good and righteous.

    God our Father will lead us to where life is beautiful again.

    Father, forgive me for my attempts to hurt and dominate others.  I realize I am responsible for my own behavior, and I am accountable to You for my thoughts, my idle words, and my selfish actions (Matthew 12:36). I confess this as the sin it is, and ask for Your forgiveness, knowing You are faithful and just to forgive my sin and cleanse me from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). Please save me in Your unfailing love (Psalm 31:16).

    Jesus, You came into the world to save sinners (1 Timothy 1:15). You did not come to judge but to save (John 12:47) – to save Your people from their sins (Matthew 1:21). Save me from this sin, for I am Yours (Psalm 119:94). For if You teach me how to keep my mind set on what the Spirit desires (Romans 8:6), I will no longer conform to patterns of this world, and I will be transformed by the renewing of my mind (Romans 12:2).

    Father, I realize my helplessness in saving myself, and I glorify You for what Christ Jesus has done for me.  I put aside all past sources of confidence, counting them worth less than nothing so I may experience Christ and become one with Him (Philippians 3:8-9 TLB). 

    O Jesus, how I praise You that everyone who believes in You receives forgiveness of sins through Your name (Acts 10:43). There is no exception. Blessed am I, because my transgressions have been forgiven; my sins are covered (Romans 4:7). Blessed am I because You, Lord God, will never count my sins against me no matter how many times I fall prey to it (Romans 4:8). Even if I sin seven times in a day, and as long as I ask for forgiveness and ask for deliverance from it, You forgive me (Luke 17:4). Amazing grace!

    I am still not all I should be, but I am bringing all my energies to bear on this one thing (Philippians 3:13): I have been crucified with Christ, and I myself no longer live, but Christ lives in me.  And the real life I now have within this body is a result of my trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me (Galatians 2:20).  My old sin-loving nature was buried with Him, and His wonderful new life was given to me (Romans 6:4). Now I must give up everything else – I know it to be the only way to really know Christ Jesus and to experience the mighty power that brought Him back to life again, and to find out what it means to suffer and to die with Him. So, whatever it takes, I will be one who lives in the fresh newness of life of those who are now alive from the dead (Philippians 3:10-11). 

    Father, I draw my strength from You (Ephesians 6:10).  Your strength causes me to be steadfast and trustworthy (1 Peter 5:10), for it enables me to be tolerant, and to resist hypersensitivity, irritability, and touchiness.  I desire to be well-balanced – temperate, sober of mind, vigilant, and cautious at all times, for I recognize my enemy – the devil –roams round like a roaring lion, seeking someone to seize upon and devour.  In the mighty name of Jesus, I withstand him; I stand firm in faith against his onset – rooted, established, strong, immovable, and determined (1 Peter 5:8-9).  I purpose to walk in love (1 John 1:6) toward all those around me with the help of the Holy Spirit. 

    Thank You for the Holy Spirit who leads me into reality and truth (John 14:16-17) – the truth that sets me free (John 8:32).  You have sent Your Word and healed me and delivered me from all my destructions (Psalm 107:20). Heavenly Father, in Christ Jesus, You have provided a way for me to be completely made whole (Isaiah 53:5) – this includes freedom from all depression, anxiety, guilt, worry, and every mental disorder.  You have not given me a spirit of fear, but one of power, and of love, and of a sound and healthy mind (2 Timothy 1:7).  Father, I believe You are healing my mind, and binding up my wounds (Psalm 147:3).   Through faith in You and Your Word I will joyously proclaimed that I have the mind of Christ Jesus (1 Corinthians 2:16).

  • Praying to Cast Down Imaginings

    Father, though I live in the world, I must not wage war as the world does.  I will fight the good fight of the faith and take hold of the eternal life to which I was called (1 Timothy 6:12). I will no longer walk in ways not good, pursuing my own imaginations (Isaiah 65:2). Your Word informs us that an upright man gives thought to his ways (Proverbs 21:29), and a prudent man thought to his steps (Proverbs 14:15).

    Let us not allow our imaginations to take us away from following the Lord with a whole heart.

    It is well with my soul for You have redeemed me.  You have called me by my name, and I am Yours (Isaiah 43:1).  I am even now being transformed through the renewing of my mind. You have made me able to test and approve for myself what Your Will is – Your good and acceptable and perfect Will (Romans 12:2).  You have good things reserved for my future (Jeremiah 29:11).  You are love (1 John 4:8), and perfect love casts out all fear (1 John 4:18).

    In the mighty name of Jesus, my Savior, I will take authority over my thought-life.  Even though I walk in the flesh, I am not carrying on my warfare according to the flesh and using mere human weapons. For the weapons of my warfare are not physical – weapons of flesh and blood – but they are mighty before God for the overthrowing and destruction of strongholds.  So, I will refute arguments and theories and reasonings, and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the true knowledge of God.  And I will lead every thought and purpose away captive unto the obedience of Christ, the Messiah, the Anointed One (2 Corinthians 10:3-5).

    When my strength fails and I feel weak, I will be glad and glorify Your name, O Lord God, so the power of Christ Jesus, my Savior, will rest upon me (2 Corinthians 12:9). When I feel unloved, I will remember that You alone will never leave me nor forsake me (Hebrews 13:5). When I feel left behind, I will remember that You chose me (John 15:16). When I don’t feel loved, I will remember that You first loved me (1 John 4:19). When I feel lonely, I will remember that You, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek You (Psalm 9:10). Whenever I feel afraid, I trust in You, O Lord my God; I say, “You are my God.” My times are in Your hands (Psalm 31:13-16). 

    With my soul I will bless the Lord with every thought and purpose in life and spend my times remembering His goodness (Psalm 103:2).  Let not my mind wander out of Your presence, O God (Psalm 119:10).  I truly desire that my life shall glorify the Father – spirit, soul, and body (1 Corinthians 6:20).  I take no account of the evil done to me – I pay no attention to suffered wrongs (1 Corinthians 13:5).  It holds no place in my thought-life.  I am now ready to believe the best of every person (1 Corinthians 13:7). 

    I prepare my mind for action, to be self-controlled, and I set my hope fully on the grace to be given me (1 Peter 1:13). I set my mind and keep it set on what is above – the higher things, not on the things that are of this earth (Colossians 3:2).  My carnal mind no longer rules me, for I have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16), and hold the thoughts and purposes of His heart (Philippians 2:5).  In the name of Jesus and with His Spirit to guide me, I will practice what I have learned and received and heard and seen in Christ and model my way of living on it; and the God of peace – of untroubled, undisturbed well-being – will be with me (Philippians 4:9).

    I will fix my thoughts on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom I confess (Hebrews 3:1). I aim to be perfectly united in mind and thought (1 Corinthians 1:10) to Jesus, the author and finisher of my faith (Hebrews 12:2). And whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – I will think on these things (Philippians 4:8).

  • Praying for Freedom from Anger

    You are a forgiving God, gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love (Nehemiah 9:1). Your anger lasts only a moment (Psalm 30:5). Time after time You restrained Your anger and did not stir up Your full wrath (Psalm 78:38). Who knows the power of Your anger? For Your wrath is as great as the fear that is due You (Psalm 90:11).

    Father, help us to forsake the anger that so easily entices, and to live in the peace You provide.

    Please, do not be angry with me (Judges 6:39). I know the day of the Lord is coming – a cruel day, with wrath and fierce anger (Isaiah 13:9). I also know You are a gracious and compassionate God; slow to anger and abounding in love (Jonah 4:2). You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy (Micah 7:18). You, Lord, are slow to anger and great in power (Nahum 1:3); You do not harbor Your anger forever (Psalm 103:9). — How I long to be like You!

    Heavenly Father, the hurts I have received and the frustrations I feel have caused anger to develop in my soul.  I bring my anger to You, and I ask You to replace it with Your healing love.  You are my Healer (Exodus 15:26) and at Your feet I place all of my inner hurts, frustrations, wounds and disappointments. Thank You for inviting me to cast all my cares upon You (1 Peter 5:7). 

    Your Word tells me: a quick-tempered man does foolish things (Proverbs 14:17), and harsh words stir up anger (Proverbs 15:1), which only stirs up more dissension, but a patient man calms a quarrel (Proverbs 15:18). It is better to control my temper (Proverbs 16:32), a glory to overlook an offense (Proverbs 19:11). You warn us to not make friends with a hot-tempered man, to not associate with one easily angered (Proverbs 22:24). Lord, keep me from being such a one! Anger is cruel and fury overwhelming (Proverbs 27:4), for an angry man commits many sins (Proverbs 29:22). You warn us not to be quickly provoked in spirit, for anger resides in the lap of fools (Ecclesiastes 7:9).

    Please help me to get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Instead lead me to be kind and compassionate to others, forgiving others as You forgive (Ephesians 4:31-32). Please teach me how to keep myself from hot tempers, hatred, cursing, and filthy language (Colossians 3:8).

    Father, help me also to forsake judging and criticizing others, which lead to frustrations and anger (Matthew 7:1-2). I remember Your Word says that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment (Matthew 5:22), and to not take revenge but leave room for Your wrath, for it is written: “It is Mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord (Romans 12:19).

    The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: hatred, fits of rage, dissensions, (Galatians 5:19-20). I know I need to be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry, because my anger does not bring about the righteous life that You desire (James 1:19-20). Teach me, my loving Lord, to deal with anger in positive, constructive ways. With Your grace, I will never let the sun go down on my wrath again (Ephesians 4:26). 

    It is my heartfelt desire to always follow Your perfect way and Will in all things, and to pursue the most excellent way of all – the way of love (1 Corinthians 12:31).  Thank You for lifting the burden of anger from me. Through Your guidance and leadership in my life, I know I will learn to refrain from anger and turn from wrath; and to not fret for it leads only to evil (Psalm 37:8).

    Father, I thank You for Jesus who is my High Priest.  He understands my anger (Hebrews 4:15) and I believe He will lead me to freedom from its torment in my life.  Thank You, Lord God, for Your nurturing in my life.  I respond to Your love, dearest Father, and as I do so, the anger I was feeling is fading away (1 John 4:10).  Thank You, O sovereign Lord.

  • Praying to Overcome Bitterness

    Lord God, I confess to You! I am full of bitterness (Acts 8:23); my mouth if full of cursing and bitterness (Romans 3:14). Wretched man that I am! (Romans 7:24) I cannot keep silent, I continually speak out in anguish of my spirit, I complain in the bitterness of my soul (Job 7:11). Because of this, I loathe my very life (Job 10:1), the life You have given me! The life I should be rejoicing in! My old self would have been happy to die in bitterness of soul never having enjoyed anything good (Job 21:25), but as for the new me (2 Corinthians 5:17), I will serve the Lord (Joshua 24:15) and enjoy my salvation!

    Let us not close ourselves off in bitterness but come to enjoy the life God has for us.

    Help me, mighty God and Savior, to keep the attitudes of my heart, the thoughts of my mind, and the words of my mouth free from bitterness.  O Lord, I desire not to grieve Your Holy Spirit with whom I am sealed for the day of redemption. By the great power of Your Spirit, please guide me to get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, brawling, slander, and all kinds of malice. (Ephesians 4:30-31). By Your Spirit teach me to practice hospitality and to be kind to others without grumbling or complaining (1 Peter 4:9). Teach me not to speak in regard to need but help me learn to be content (Philippians 4:11). For Godliness with contentment is great gain (1 Timothy 6:6).

    Father God, I desire to be kind and compassionate to others; forgiving others just as, in Christ Jesus, You forgave me (Ephesians 4:32). Empower me, dearest Father, so I may walk worthy of the calling with which I was called, by being completely humble and gentle; patient; bearing with others in love (Ephesians 4:1-2).

    Please, dear Father, change me so that when circumstances or people’s actions try to vex me, I can be like Hanna who responded with prayer when she was experiencing bitterness of soul (1 Samuel 1:10).  She prayed to You, weeping profusely, and You heard and answered the cry of her heart.  You turned her bitterness into joy (1 Samuel 1:20), and since You are not a respecter of persons (Romans 2:11), please turn my bitterness to joy, gracious God Almighty.

    My heart is heavy with my own bitterness (Proverbs 14:10).  Knowing You know more about me than I do (Psalm 139:1), I choose to obey You by not spending my time in bitterness (Isaiah 38:15).  Restore me and make me live abundantly again (John 10:10).  Grant me Your peace and deliver my soul from the pit of corruption.  Thank You, wonderful God, for casting all my sins behind Your back (Isaiah 38:16-17). 

    I repent of the sin of bitterness in my life, fully realizing it has defiled me and grows to cause trouble (Hebrews 12:15).  Therefore, from this time forward, I vow – with Your tender mercies and the guidance of Your Spirit – to forsake all bitterness, wrath, anger, quarreling, resentment, and evil speaking.  Savior, please teach me to put them behind me and not allow these things to be a part of my life any longer.  In their place I will be kind, tenderhearted, and forgiving toward others.  Even as You, dear Father, have been towards me (Hebrews 8:12).

  • Praying to Know You Are Loved

    Heavenly Father, I believe Your Word which tells me that You love me (Psalm 86:13).  And that nothing can separate me from Your love (Romans 8:39), except my own refusal to believe it and receive it.  You loved me even before I was born (Psalm 139:13), and You fashioned me according to Your grand plan and purpose.  According to Your Word, I am one of Your marvelous works of art, Father, and I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). 

    God loves us! Tremendously. We are compelled to pass it on.

    Thank You for making me a new creation in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:17).  I can rejoice in the certain knowledge that You have made all things new in my life including the way I see myself.  I have been made complete in Christ Jesus (Colossians 2:10).  Thank You for pouring Your love into my heart through Your Hoy Spirit whom You have given to me (Romans 5:5).  Through Him, I am able to comprehend with all the saints the full extent of Your love (Ephesians 3:18).  Strengthen me by Your Spirit in my innermost being, Father, and keep rooting and grounding me in Your wonderful love, so I will know the love of Christ Jesus which surpasses all knowledge (Ephesians 3:17-19). Thank You for loving me and helping me to love You with all my heart; and perfecting that love so that I can love myself as You love me (1 John 4:16-17). 

    Life is worth nothing unless I use it for doing the work assigned to me by the Lord Jesus — the work of telling others the Good News about Your mighty kindness and love (Acts 20:24 Phillips). But I must love myself before Your love can shine past me to others. So from this time forward I will walk in love toward You, others, and myself, because I know Chris Jesus loved me and gave Himself for me (Ephesians 5:2).  I will clothe myself with compassion as one of Your chosen people, holy and dearly loved (Colossians 3:12).

    I trust You, Father, to continue Your workmanship in my life, for I know You are working within me, both to will and to do Your good pleasure and purpose (Philippians 2:13).  When I don’t feel I’m loved, I need to remember always that You first loved me (1 John 4:19), and this fact of my faith enables me to love myself and others.  I gladly and gratefully receive Your love, gracious Father.

    I want to follow all Your commandments because of Your great love for me (John 14:15) and to show You that I do indeed love You (1 John 5:3).    By experiencing Your love and sharing it with others, people will know I am a disciple of Christ Jesus (John 13:34-35).  Your perfect love has cast out all fear (1 John 4:18), including the fear of not being loved.  Thank You so much for Your limitless love, O Lord my God.  It really is from everlasting to everlasting (Psalm 136:1).
