  • Praying to Do God’s Good Works

Father, I pray that Your Will be done in my life as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10).  For I am the work of Your hands, Your own workmanship, recreated in Christ Jesus, born anew, that I may do good works which You predestined for me, that I should walk in them – living the good life which You prearranged and made ready for me to live (Ephesians 2:10).  Teach me to do Your Will, for You are my God; let Your good Spirit lead me on level ground (Psalm 143:10) that I may bring glory to Your name.

Let us trust God for He has made us the way we are for a reason.

You have made known the mystery of Your Will according to Your good pleasure, which You purposed in Christ, to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ my Lord. In Him we were chosen, having been predestined according to the Your plan, since You work out everything in conformity with the purposes of Your Will (Ephesians 1:9-11). You worked to purify for Yourself a people that are Your very own, eager to do what is good (Titus 2:14). Because of Your mercy, I know that I will receive an inheritance as a reward, for it is You, O Lord God, that I serve (Colossians 3:24).

Your Word says that those who suffer according to Your Will should commit themselves to You, their faithful Creator, and continue to do good (1 Peter 4:19). For it is by doing good works we silence the ignorant talk of foolish men (1 Peter 2:15). Like a slave of Christ, I set myself to doing Your Will from my heart (Ephesians 6:6). I choose not to be foolish, but to understand what Your will is (Ephesians 5:17). I know that as long as I am in Your Will, it is better to suffer for doing good than for doing evil (1 Peter 3:17).

I trust in You, therefore I will devote myself to doing what is good (Titus 3:8). Your word tells us that we all must learn to devote ourselves to doing what is good, in order that we may provide for daily necessities and not live unproductive lives (Titus 3:14). For when my ways are pleasing to You, Lord, You makes even my enemies to live at peace with me (Proverbs 16:7).

So, I will not stop praying for You to fill me with the knowledge of Your Will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding (Colossians 1:9). This is the confidence I have in approaching You, that as long as I ask according to Your Will, You will listen to my pleas (1 John 5:14). You search our heart and know the mind, because the Spirit intercedes for us in accordance with Your Will. (Romans 8:27). This causes me to give thanks in all circumstances — for this too is Your Will for me in Christ Jesus (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

  • Praying to Know God’s Will

I delight to do Your Will, O Lord my God, and I shall keep Your Word within my heart (Psalm 40:8).  I pray Father, and I desire that You would fill me with the knowledge of Your Will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding so I may walk worthy of You, fully pleasing You and desiring to please You in all things, while being fruitful in every good work (Colossians 1:9-10).

God’s Will is peace for our souls. Let us strive to know it.

Because of these promises, I am asking for Your wisdom to know what to do in every situation and to be on top of every circumstance, that I may bring You glory and that our joy may be full.  Direct my steps, O Lord, and make them sure (Proverbs 16:9).  Please keep me from being vague, thoughtless, or foolish so I may understand and firmly grasp what the Will of the Lord is (Ephesians 5:17). I aim to be a wise child and heed my Father’s instructions (Proverbs 13:1).  I pray to stand firm and mature in spiritual growth, convinced and fully assured in everything willed by God (Colossians 4:12).

Father, You have destined and appointed me to come progressively to know Your Will – that is to perceive, to recognize more strongly and clearly, and to become better and more intimately acquainted with Your Will (Acts 22:14).  I thank You, dear Father, that You are instructing me in the way which I should go and that You are guiding me with Your eye (Psalm 32:8).  I thank You for Your guidance and leading concerning Your Will, Your plan, and Your purpose for my life.

Thank You, wonderful Father, for giving me an abundance of wisdom and understanding through Your Word.  You have made known unto me the mystery of Your Will, according to Your good pleasure (Ephesians 1:8-9).  I aim to single-mindedly walk in that wisdom, asking for Your guidance in every matter (James 1:5). Please, guide me to follow Your Will. I know that if I strive to always remain in Your Will, You will guide me with Your counsel (Psalm 73:24). Whether I turn to the right or to the left, faithful Father, please cause my ears to hear a voice behind me saying, “this is the way; walk in it” (Isaiah 30:21). I am trusting that in everything Your hand will guide me, Your right hand will hold me fast (Psalm 139:10).

Thank You, Father, that my path is growing brighter and brighter until it reaches the full light of day (Revelation 4:8).
