  • Patience Has Rewards

And therefore the Lord [earnestly] waits [expecting, looking, and longing] to be gracious to you; and therefore He lifts Himself up, that He may have mercy on you and show loving-kindness to you.  For the Lord is a God of justice.  Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are all those who [earnestly] wait for Him, who expect and look and long for Him [for His victory, His favor, His love, His peace, His joy, and His matchless, unbroken companionship]! (Isaiah 30:18)

[God] will render to every man according to his deeds: to those who, by patient persistence in doing good, seek for glory and honor and [the eternal blessings of] immortality, He will give eternal life (Romans 2:6-7).

Let us strip off and throw aside every encumbrance (unnecessary weight) and that sin which so readily (deftly and cleverly) clings to and entangles us, and let us run with patient endurance and steady and active persistence the appointed course of the race that is set before us…  Just think of Him who endured from sinners such grievous opposition and bitter hostility against Himself [reckon up and consider it all in comparison with your trials], so that you may not grow weary or exhausted, losing heart and relaxing and fainting in your minds (Hebrews 12:1, 3).

Everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures, we might have hope.  May the God who gives both endurance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind… (Romans 15:4-5)

For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised (Hebrews 10:36).

Endure hardships as discipline.  God is treating you as sons.  For what son is not disciplined by his father? (Hebrews 12:7)

By your steadfastness and patient endurance you shall win the true life of your souls (Luke 21:19).

[Let us also be full of joy now!] Let us exult and triumph in our troubles and rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that pressure and affliction and hardship produce patient and unswerving endurance.  And endurance (fortitude) develops maturity of character (approved faith and tried integrity). And character (of this sort) produces [the habit of] joyful and confident hope of eternal salvation (Romans 5:3-4).

If we hope for what we do not see, we wait eagerly for it with perseverance (Romans 8:25).

If we are afflicted… it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer (2 Corinthians 1:6).

But those who wait on the Lord will find new strength. They will fly high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31)

Make every effort to add to your faith… patient endurance… (2 Peter 1:5-6)

The Lord’s servants must not quarrel but must be kind to everyone. They must be able to teach effectively and be patient with difficult people. (2 Timothy 2:24)

Therefore my dear brothers, be steadfast, immoveable, always excelling in the Lord’s work, knowing that your labor in the Lord is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58).

As for you keep your head in all situations; endure hardships… (2 Timothy 4:5)

Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness (1 Timothy 6:11).

Endure hardships with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus (2 Timothy 2:3).

If we endure, we will also reign with Him… (2 Timothy 2:12)

Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait till the Lord comes… (1 Corinthians 4:5)

  • Growing In Patience

Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus to be revealed (1 Corinthians 1:7).

Love is patient…  It endures all things. (1 Corinthians 13:4, 7)

A man’s wisdom gives him patience, and his virtue is to overlook an offense (Proverbs 19:11).

A patient man calms a quarrel (Proverbs 15:18).

A patient man has great understanding…. (Proverbs 14:29)

Patience is better than pride (Ecclesiastes 7:8).

What credit is there if, when you sin and are harshly treated, you endure it with patience?  But if, when you do what is right and suffer for it, you patiently endure it, this finds favor with God (1 Peter 2:20).

The Lord… is long-suffering (extraordinarily patient) toward you, not desiring that any should perish, but that all should turn to repentance (2 Peter 3:9).

Blessed (happy, to be envied) is the man who is patient under trial and stands up under temptation, for when he has stood the test and been approved, he will receive [the victor’s] crown of life which God has promised to those who love Him (James 1:12).

Be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith bring out endurance and steadfastness and patience.  But let endurance and steadfastness and patience have full play and do a thorough work in you, so that you may be [people] perfectly and fully developed [with no defects], lacking in nothing (James 1:3-4).

As for that [seed] in the good soil, these are [the people] who, hearing the Word, hold it fast in a just (noble, virtuous) and worthy heart, and steadily bring forth fruit with patience (Luke 8:15).

So be patient, brethren, [as you wait] till the coming of the Lord.  See how the farmer waits expectantly for the precious harvest from the land.  [See how] he keeps up his patient [vigil] over it until it receives the early and late rains.  So you also must be patient… (James 5:7-8)

Guard and keep yourselves in the love of God; expect and patiently wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ – [which will bring you] to life eternal (Jude 1:21).

Correct, rebuke and encourage – being unflagging and inexhaustible in patience and instruction (2 Timothy 4:2).

Urge the older men to be… sound in the faith, in the love, and in the steadfastness and patience [of Christ]. (Titus 2:2)

As servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance, in troubles, hardships, and distresses… in purity, understanding, patience and kindness… (2 Corinthians 6:4-6)

Therefore as God’s chosen people… clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness… and patience [which is tireless and long-suffering, and has the power to endure whatever comes, with good temper]. (Colossians 3:12)

[We pray] that you may be invigorated and strengthened with all power according to the might of His glory, [to exercise] every kind of endurance and patience (perseverance and forbearance) with joy (Colossians 1:11).

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer (Romans 12:12).

Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love (Ephesians 4:2).

We urge you… be patient with all men (1 Thessalonians 5:14).

  • Patience Is Waiting For God

Therefore, [earnestly] wait for Me, declares the Lord, [waiting] for the day when I rise up… (Zephaniah 3:8)

The Lord is good to those who wait hopefully and expectantly for Him…  It is good that one should hope in and wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord (Lamentations 3:25-26).

But as for me, I will look to the Lord and – confident in Him – I will keep watch; I will wait with hope and expectancy for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me (Micah 7:7).

I will wait for the Lord…  I will look for and hope in Him (Isaiah 8:17).

    I wait for You, O Lord… (Psalm 38:15)

I wait for the Lord; my soul waits.  And in His Word I put my hope (Psalm 130:5).

I am hoping and waiting [eagerly] for Your salvation, O Lord, and I do [follow] Your commandments (Psalm 119:166).

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him…  Wait for the Lord and keep His ways… (Psalm 37:7, 34)

Wait [expectantly] for the Lord, and He will rescue you (Proverbs 20:22).

Wait [expectantly] for your God continually (Hosea 12:6).

In the morning I lay my requests before You and wait in expectation (Psalm 5:3).

I waited patiently and expectantly for the Lord, and He inclined His ear to me and heard my cry (Psalm 40:1).

Our inner selves wait [earnestly] for the Lord; He is our Help and our Shield (Psalm 33:20).

Wait and hope for and expect the Lord!  Be brave and of good courage and let your heart be stout and enduring.  Yes, wait for and hope for and expect the Lord (Psalm 27:14).

Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial… (Revelation 3:10)

Yes… Lord, we wait [expectantly] for You… (Isaiah 26:8)

  • Study On Patience

We must learn patience with ourselves, with God, and with our Christian growth.  If you are frustrated, it is because you are not being patient with God.  We must wait; it is how we wait that is the art!  It shows how much we trust Him in our situations.

    Examples of patience

Creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed (Romans 8:19).

God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the Ark was being built… (1 Peter 3:20)

For many years You were patient with them… (Nehemiah 9:30)

As an example of suffering and patience: take the prophets…  You have heard of the endurance of Job… (James 5:10-11)

And thus, having patiently waited, [Abraham] obtained the promise (Hebrews 6:15).

I, John, your brother and companion in the suffering and kingdom and patient endurance that are ours in Jesus… (Revelation 1:9)

But I was shown mercy so that in me – the worst of sinners – Christ Jesus might display His unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe… (1 Timothy 1:16)

Through patience a ruler can be persuaded, and a gentle tongue can break a bone. [Patience and prudence can do the impossible.] (Proverbs 25:15)

Better a patient man than a warrior; a man who controls his temper than one who takes a city (Proverbs 16:32).

We continually remember… your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Thessalonians 1:3).

This is a cause of our mentioning you with pride among the churches of God for you steadfastness (your unflinching endurance and patience) and your firm faith in the midst of all the persecutions and crushing distresses and afflictions under which you are enduring (2 Thessalonians 1:4).

That you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises (Hebrews 6:12).

May the Lord direct your hearts into [realizing and showing] the love of God, and into the steadfastness and patience of Christ and in waiting for His return (2 Thessalonians 3:5).

While we wait for the blessed hope, and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ (Titus 2:13).

This calls for patient endurance on the part of the saints, who obey God’s commandments and remain faithful to Jesus (Revelation 14:12).

  • Our Kindness Needs To Grow

Love your enemies and be kind and do good [doing favors so that someone derives benefit from them] and lend, expecting and hoping for nothing in return but considering nothing as lost and despairing of no one; and then your recompense (your reward) will be great (rich, strong, intense, and abundant) and you will be sons of the Most High, for He Himself is kind and charitable and good to the ungrateful and the selfish and wicked. (Luke 6:35)

Let not mercy and kindness [shutting out all hatred and selfishness] and truth [shutting out all deliberate hypocrisy or falsehood] forsake you; bind them about your neck, write them upon the tablet of your heart.  So shall you find favor, good understanding, and high esteem in the sight [or judgment] of God and man. (Proverbs 3:3-4)

Make every effort to add to your faith… brotherly kindness (2 Peter 1:5-7).

Be kindly affectionate to one another in brotherly love (Romans 12:10).

Show mercy and kindness and tender compassion, every man to his brother (Zechariah 7:9).

As God’s chosen people… clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience (Colossians 3:12).

    The Lord’s servant… must be kind to everyone… (2 Timothy 2:24)

When we are cursed, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure it; when we are slandered, we answer kindly… (1 Corinthians 4:12-13)

As servants of God we commend ourselves in every way… in purity, understanding, patience and kindness, in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love (2 Corinthians 6:4-6).

Renounce your sins by loving what is right, and your wickedness by being kind to the oppressed… (Daniel 4:27)

And become useful and helpful and kind to one another, tender-hearted (compassionate, understanding, loving-hearted), forgiving one another [readily and freely], as God in Christ forgave you (Ephesians 4:32).

See that none of you repays another with evil for evil, but always aim to show kindness and seek to do good to one another and to everybody (1 Thessalonians 5:15).

That which is desired in a man is loyalty and kindness… (Proverbs 19:22)

He who increases his wealth by exorbitant interest amasses it for another, who will be kind to the poor (Proverbs 28:8).

We are being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a cripple… (Acts 4:9)

May the Lord bless you because you showed kindness…  And now may the Lord show loving-kindness and faithfulness to you… (2 Samuel 2:5-6)

May kindness and faithfulness be with you (2 Samuel 15:20).

  • Promises For Kindness

To be tender and gentle, as Jesus was, is to be moved with compassion.  Kindness is an attitude, a disposition, a tender concern for others – grace to mellow what is harsh.  This attitude is to believe the best of everyone (and anyone).  Most people don’t want to be mean on purpose.  Jesus told us to go and figure out what “mercy” means.

May the Lord show kindness to you, as you have shown to me (Ruth 1:8).

Blessed are the merciful for they shall be shown mercy (Matthew 5:7).

A merciful, kind, and generous man benefits himself [for his deeds return to bless him]… (Proverbs 11:17)

A kind word cheers [a man] up. (Proverbs 12:25)

Blessed is he who is kind to the needy (Proverbs 14:21).

Whoever is kind to the needy honors God (Proverbs 14:31).

He who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will reward him for what he has done (Proverbs 19:17).

The Lord bless him… [for] he has not stopped showing his kindness to the living and the dead… (Ruth 2:20)

    A kindhearted woman gains respect… (Proverbs 11:16)

She opens her mouth in wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue (Proverbs 31:26).

But go and learn what this means: I desire mercy [that is, readiness to help those in trouble] and not sacrifice… (Matthew 9:13)

Anyone who withholds kindness from a friend forsakes the fear of the Almighty (Job 6:14).

    Love is kind… (1 Corinthians 13:4)

  • Study on Kindness

Kindness is not an emotion felt, but rather an action performed.  Often we feel compassion, sorrow or regret at misfortunes of others; but it is when we turn those feelings into actions that we show kindness.  Kindness is one of the most endearing and heartwarming expressions of the human heart.  Nothing lifts our spirits like receiving a little kindness.  Nothing strengthens and enlarges our hearts like giving a little kindness.

God’s kindness is unconditional and part of His character

The Lord is full of compassion and mercy (James 5:11).

Your compassion [tender mercy and loving-kindness] is great, O Lord… (Psalm 119:156)

The Lord is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion (Psalm 116:5).

Give thanks to the Lord for He is good; His loving-kindness is everlasting (1 Chronicles 16:34).

The Lord is good to all; He has compassion on all He has made (Psalm 145:9).

In You the fatherless find compassion (Hosea 14:3).

All My compassion is aroused (Hosea 11:8).

Praise be to the Lord… who has not abandoned His kindness and faithfulness… (Genesis 24:27)

He did you good and [showed you] kindness and gave you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with nourishment and happiness (Acts 14:17).

But the Lord was gracious to them and had compassion and showed concern for them because of His covenant… (2 Kings 13:23)

When they cried out to You again, You heard from heaven, and in Your compassion You delivered them time after time (Nehemiah 9:28).

I led them with cords of human kindness; with ties of love… (Hosea 11:4)

You gave me life and showed me kindness, and in Your providence watched over my spirit (Job 10:12).

“Though the mountains should depart and the hills be shaken or removed, yet My unfailing love and kindness shall not depart from you, nor shall My covenant of peace and completeness be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you (Isaiah 54:10).

The Lord… will show you mercy, have compassion on you… (Deuteronomy 13:17)

Do you show contempt for the riches of His kindness, tolerance and patience?  Not realizing that God’s kindness leads you toward repentance? (Romans 2:4)

And therefore the Lord [earnestly] waits [expecting, looking, and longing] to be gracious to you; and therefore He lifts Himself up, that He may have mercy on you and show loving-kindness to you… (Isaiah 30:18)

And God… did this that He might clearly demonstrate through the ages to come the immeasurable (limitless, surpassing) riches of His free grace (His unmerited favor) in His kindness and goodness of heart toward us in Christ Jesus. (Ephesians 2:6-7)

But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, He saved us… because of His own mercy… (Titus 3:4-5)

When He saw the crowds, He had compassion on them… (Matthew 9:36)

As Jesus landed, He saw a great crowd waiting, and He was moved with compassion for them… (Mark 6:34)

Jesus called His disciples to Him and said, “I have compassion for these people…” (Matthew 15:32)

He had compassion on them and healed their sick (Matthew 14:14).

I am the Lord who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth… (Jeremiah 9:24)

Who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion… (Psalm 103:4)

As a father has compassion on His children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him (Psalm 103:13).

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3).

  • We Are To Be Good People

To purify for Himself a people that are His very own, eager to do what is good (Titus 2:14).

I know there is nothing better for men than to be happy and to do good while they live (Ecclesiastes 3:12).

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil.  For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks (Luke 6:45).

Let us discern for ourselves what is right; let us learn together what is good (Job 34:4).

Ask where the good way is and work in it, and you will find rest for your souls (Jeremiah 6:16).

You will understand what is right and just and fair – every good path…  Thus you will walk in the ways of good men… (Proverbs 2:9, 20)

Loving-kindness and mercy, loyalty and faithfulness shall be [granted] to those who devise good (Proverbs 14:22).

He who heeds the Word wisely will find good, and whoever trusts in the Lord, happy is he (Proverbs 16:20).

Do not be misled.  Bad company corrupts good behavior (1 Corinthians 15:33).

He has shown you, O man, what is good.  And what does the Lord require of you but to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God (Micah 6:8).

Anyone who knows the good he ought to do and doesn’t do it, sins (James 4:17).

Do not withhold good from those who deserve it… (Proverbs 3:27)

I, myself, am convinced, my brother, that you yourselves are full of goodness… (Romans 15:14)

I want you to be wise about what is good and innocent about what is evil (Romans 16:19).

Love your enemies; do good to those who hate you (Luke 6:27).

Turn from evil and do good (Psalm 37:27).

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good (Romans 12:21).

Be ready to do whatever is good (Titus 3:1).

In everything set them an example by doing what is good (Titus 2:7).

So that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good.  These things [that are good are good for everyone] and are excellent and profitable for everyone (Titus 3:8).

May the God of peace… equip you with everything good for doing His will (Hebrews 13:20-21).

All scripture is God-breathed… so the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things, at all times, having all you need, you will abound in every good work (2 Corinthians 9:8).

Let us not become weary in doing good…  As we have opportunity, let us do good to all people… (Galatians 6:9-10)

For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works… (Ephesians 2:10)

[May our Father] by His grace give us eternal encouragement and good hope [to] encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word (2 Thessalonians 2:16-17).

Trust in the Lord and do good… (Psalm 37:3)

Let your light shine before men so they may see your good deeds and worship your Father in Heaven (Matthew 5:16).

His master replied: well done, good and faithful servant… (Matthew 25:21, 13)

  • God Is Good On a Personal Level

I said to the Lord: “You are my Lord; apart from You I have no good thing” (Psalm 16:2).

I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living (Psalm 27:13).

Observe the Lord’s commands and decrees I am giving you today for your own good (Deuteronomy 10:13).

Be careful to obey all these regulations I am giving you because you will be doing what is good and right in the eyes of the Lord your God (Deuteronomy 12:28).

Do good to Your servant according to Your word, O Lord.  Teach me knowledge and good judgment, for I believe in Your commands (Psalm 119:65-66).

Do good to Your servant and I will live; I will obey Your Word (Psalm 119:17).

I will teach you the good and the right way.  Only fear the Lord, and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you (1 Samuel 12:23-24).

Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name!  …  Who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s (Psalm 103:1, 5).

Be at rest once more, o my soul, for the Lord has been good to you (Psalm 116:7).

The righteous will gather about me because of Your goodness to me (Psalm 142:7).

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever (Psalm 23:6).

How can I repay the Lord for all His goodness to me? (Psalm 116:12)

I will sing to the Lord for He has been good to me (Psalm 13:6).

It is good to praise the Lord and make music to Your name, O Most High (Psalm 92:1).

How good it is to sing praises to our God; how pleasant and fitting to praise Him (Psalm 147:1 ).

  • Faithfulness Has Rewards

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tables of your heart (Proverbs 3:3).

To the faithful You show Yourself faithful… (Psalm 18:25)

May the Lord now show you kindness and faithfulness (2 Samuel 2:6).

For the Lord loves the just and will not forsake His faithful ones… (Psalm 37:28)

God sends His love and His faithfulness (Psalm 57:3)

Love the Lord, all His saints!  The Lord preserves the faithful… (Psalm 31:23)

O Lord… in Your faithfulness and righteousness, come to my relief (Psalm 143:1).

For He… protects the way of His faithful ones (Proverbs 2:8).

For He guards the lives of His faithful ones and delivers them from the hand of the wicked (Psalm 97:10).

I am unworthy of all the kindness and faithfulness You have shown Your servant (Genesis 32:10).

My eyes will be on the faithful in the land, that they may dwell with Me… (Psalm 101:6)

In My faithfulness I will reward them (Isaiah 61:8).

I will betroth you in faithfulness… (Hosea 2:20)

They will be My people and I will be faithful and righteous to them as their God (Zechariah 8:8).

Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life (Revelation 2:10).

This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness on the part of the saints… (Revelation 13:10)

This calls for patient endurance on the part of the saints who obey God’s commandments and remain faithful to Jesus (Revelation 14:12).

Now fear the Lord and serve Him with all faithfulness (Joshua 24:14).

Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful (1 Corinthians 4:2).

I know, O Lord, that Your laws are righteous, and in faithfulness You have afflicted me (Psalm 119:95).

Through love and faithfulness sin is atoned for… (Proverbs 16:6)

Those who plan what is good find love and faithfulness… (Proverbs 14:22)

Whoever can be trusted with very little can be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much (Luke 16:10).

Do not plot harm against your neighbor who lives trustfully near you (Proverbs 3:29).

You must serve faithfully and wholeheartedly in the fear of the Lord (2 Chronicles 19:9).

He who has My Word, let him speak My Word faithfully (Jeremiah 23:28).

I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make Your faithfulness known…  I will declare that Your love stands firm forever, that You establish Your faithfulness in heaven itself (Psalm 89:1-2).
