  • Praying to Overcome Confusion

Your Word promises that whoever believes on Christ Jesus shall not be confounded (1 Peter 2:6). In you, O Lord, I will put my trust; please let me never be put to confusion (Psalm 71:1). There are times when I feel with Job that “I am full of confusion” (Job 10:15). Confusion is continually before me (Psalm 44:15), because wherever there is jealousy or selfish ambition, there will be disorder/confusion (James 3:16 TLB). All idols are but wind and confusion (Isaiah 41:29), and Your Word tells us to keep ourselves from idols (1 John 5:21).

Rest in the Lord, and He will make all things clear.

Teach me to love Your law, O Lord.  As I do so, I know I will not stumble and I will have great peace in my life instead of confusion (Psalm 119:165).  Help me, Father.  With Your help I know I will not be confused any longer; Your help enables me to set my face like a flint, and I know I shall not be ashamed (Isaiah 50:7).  Not only that, but You have invited me to cast my burdens upon You (1 Peter 5:7), loving Lord; therefore, I cast this burden of confusion upon You, realizing You will sustain me and never let me down (Psalm 55:22).

Heavenly Father, thank You that You are not the author of confusion but of peace (1 Corinthians 14:33), and because of You and Your Spirit, I never have to be confused.  For the Spirit will teach me and bring to my remembrance all things You have tried to teach me (John 14:26). I praise You for not giving me a spirit of fear; instead, You have given me a spirit of power, of love and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).  Thank You, O my gracious God.

There are some people who are trying to throw me into confusion (Galatians 1:7); but I will remain trusting in the Lord to bring me back to believing as I was taught (Galatians 5:10). Through Your grace, I will trust in You with all my heart, and I will not lean toward my own understanding.  In all my ways I will acknowledge You, O Lord, and I know You will direct my paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).

I thank You, Father, for always sustaining me.  You keep in perfect peace those whose mind is stayed on You as long as we trust in You (Isaiah 26:3).  Thank You for Your peace which surpasses all understanding; it guards my heart and my mind (Philippians 4:7).  It has taken away the confusion I was experiencing, and I know Your peace will keep me safe through Christ Jesus (Romans 5:1).  Your kingdom is a kingdom of righteousness, peace and joy (Romans 14:17). Thank You for setting me free from confusion, gracious Father. Praises to You, O Lord my God!
