  • A Good Life Awaits

I am a wise person, so I turn away from anger; a fool gives full vent to anger, but I am a wise person and thus I must keep myself under control (Proverbs 29:8, 11). Through Jesus Christ living in me, and by His power, I am quick to hear, slow to speak, and even slower to anger (James 1:19).

A good life awaits us, we have but to follow His call.

O Lord, I desire not to grieve Your Holy Spirit with whom I am sealed unto the day of redemption. By the great power of Your Spirit, please guide me to get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, brawling, slander, and all kinds of malice. (Ephesians 4:30-31). By Your Spirit teach me to practice hospitality and to be kind to others without grumbling or complaining (1 Peter 4:9). Teach me to not always speak in regard to need, but help me learn to be content (Philippians 4:11). For Godliness with contentment is great gain (1 Timothy 6:6).

Just as You are Holy, so I want desperately to be holy in all I do (1 Peter 1:15).

Father God, I desire to be kind and compassionate to others; forgiving others just as, in Christ Jesus, You forgave me (Ephesians 4:32). Empower me, dearest Father, so I may walk worthy of the calling with which I was called, by being completely humble and gentle; patient; bearing with others in love (Ephesians 4:1-2).

Victorious God, I thank You and boldly acknowledge that the weapons with which I fight are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they are from You and have divine power to demolish all strongholds of every kind. Your power in me can demolish every argument and every pretention that sets itself up against the knowledge of You. Teach me to take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 10:4-5) that I may fight the good fight.

May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, O Lord my Rock and my Redeemer (Psalm 19:14). I ask that You allow no corrupt communication proceed out of my mouth, but only what is good for edification, that it may impart grace to the hearer (Ephesians 4:29). According to my faith please let it be done unto me (Matthew 9:29).

  • Learning To Speak Out Truth

I am a temple of the Living God, as God said, “I will live in them and walk among them; I will be their God and they shall be My people” (2 Corinthians 6:16).

Lord God, put Your words into my mouth and cover me in the shadow of Your hand (Isaiah 51:16). Heavenly Father, please give me the tongue of the learned that I may know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary (Isaiah 50:4).

With Your strength, O Lord my God, I can guard my mouth and my tongue to keep myself from calamity (Proverbs 21:23). Let there not be any obscenity, foolish talk, or coarse jesting which are out of place in my mouth, but rather thanksgiving (Ephesians 5:4).

I will strive to avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly; and I truly want to be closer to my God (2 Timothy 2:16).

Jesus Lord, in Your keeping I will only open lips to speak what is right. Please let my mouth only speak what is true, for I detest wickedness. All the words of my mouth need to be just; none of them should be crooked or perverse (Proverbs 8:6-8).

Please, Lord, I want to do everything without complaining or arguing (Philippians 2:14). I do not want anything to do with foolish or stupid arguments because I know they produce quarrels (2 Timothy 2:23). With Your strength, I will refrain from quarrelling about words; it is of no value and only ruins those who listen (2 Timothy 2:14). I will avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law [and differing doctrines], because these are also unprofitable and useless (Titus 3:9). I want nothing to do with godless myths and old wives tales. Rather I ask You please to train me to be godly (1 Timothy 4:7).

Lord, teach me not to complain, grumble, or whine; I do not want to open myself up to be destroyed by the destroyer! (1 Corinthians 10:10). So I must not grumble against others lest I be condemned (James 5:9).

  • We Must Control Our Tongue

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life]. (Proverbs 18:21 Amplified) Jesus said, “By your words you will be justified and acquitted; and by your words you will be condemned and sentenced” (Matthew 12:37). The tongue has living power in it to cause life or death. I love speaking God’s Word and will bear much fruit for the glory of God because of it.

Father God, You told me “whatsoever I say will come to pass”, that I can have whatever I say as long as I believe it will be so (Mark 11:23-24). This gives me added incentive to watch what I say and make sure the negativity does not spew out from between my lips. But it also gives me incentive to speak Your words with conviction and determination!

Therefore, because of this mighty promise, I speak out and declare: My mouth is to be used for edification, for thanksgiving, and for praise (Ephesians 4:29). I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth (Psalms 34:1). And in dealing with people, my mouth shall speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15).

I am determined that hell will not set my tongue on fire (James 3:6). So I renounce, reject, and repent of every word that has ever proceeded out of my mouth against You, my Father God, or Your plans. I cancel its power, and dedicate my mouth to speak excellent and right things. With the Holy Spirit directing me, my mouth shall utter truth!

I love life with Jesus and desire to see many good days serving Him. So I will keep my tongue from evil and my lips from speaking lies. I will turn from evil and do good. I will seek peace and pursue it. (Psalm 34:12-14)

I choose to be an imitator of God, for I am dearly loved by Him (Ephesians 5:1). Is He not my Father, my Creator, who made me and formed me? Shouldn’t I strive to imitate Him? (Deuteronomy 32:6). Lord Jesus, the words You have spoken to me are spirit and they are life (John 6:63). I desire nothing but Your life in me.

Because of Jesus, for Jesus, and in Jesus’ name, I refuse to compromise or err from pure and sound words. In Jesus’ name and with His strength and wisdom, I will learn to take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 10:5).

  • Praying For My Country

Bless this country, O dearest Lord God, that we may ever be a stronghold of peace, and an advocate of peace in the councils of nations. Strengthen the bonds of friendship and fellowship among all the inhabitants of this land, and may the love of Your name be hallowed in every home and heart. O Lord of Hosts, stretch forth Your mighty arm to strengthen the men and women of our armed forces. Keep them temperate in all things, that they may serve You without stumbling and without stain; that they may lead us into greater service in Your kingdom, through Christ Jesus our Lord, we pray. Grant to the rulers of this country, and to all who shepherd Your people, the wisdom and strength to know and to do Your will for all Your people’s sake. Fill them with the love of truth and righteousness and make them ever mindful of their calling to serve this people in fear of You.

May all countries be blessed of God. May all countries bless God.

Dear God, ruler over all the nations, preserve our commitment to the common good. Let “vested Interest” wane and “advocacy” see beyond pure personal gain. Above all, help our elected officials to refrain from self-serving and to commit themselves to those things that benefit us all. Grant them wisdom to discern what elevates our goals and preserves our values. Teach them to speak with integrity and to hear with openness, so the opinions of all are given their due. Do not let them grow weary in their difficult tasks, for You uphold the weary. Give them — and us — joy in our citizenship and confidence in our future. Our only hope is in Your unfailing Love, O Lord our God.

Lord God, Almighty One, You are enthroned above and You observe the whole earth. You alone are God of all kingdoms. You alone created heaven and earth. Listen and hear, O Lord. Open Your eyes and see, O Loving God. Listen to the enemy’s words of defiance against the Living God — for we are known by Your name, to be Your people. Now, O Lord, our God and Father, rescue us from the power of the enemies that surround us. Then all the kingdoms of the earth will know You alone are God. (Isaiah 37:16-20)

I will obey the government, for God is the one who put it there. All governments have been placed in power under our God’s watchful eye (Romans 13:1). You have urged us to pray for all peoples, O Lord God. To plead for mercy upon them, and give thanks for them. So I pray for kings and presidents and all who are in authority, so we can all live in peace, in godliness and dignity. For this is good and pleases You, my God and Savior. (1 Timothy 2:1-3).

Jesus, You have given the keys of [not ‘to’, but ‘of’] the Kingdom of Heaven to Your followers (Matthew 16:19). So I say with confidence: Jesus gave me His authority to use His mighty name, and told me that what I bind on earth is bound in heaven, and what I loose on earth is loosed in heaven (Matthew 18:18-19). Therefore in the name of the Lord Jesus, the Christ of God, I bind the principalities, powers and rulers of the darkness of this world from taking captive the innocent people of this land, from spreading terror and fear across this land, and from blinding the eyes of those who want to see beyond the darkness. I bind and cast down spiritual wickedness in high places and render them harmless and ineffectual against me and my extended family in the name of the Lord Jesus, the Christ. (Ephesians 6:12).

O God our Father, who gives food for the body and truth for the mind, enlighten and nourish us so we may grow wise and strong to do Your will.

  • God Supplies Wisdom

The unspiritual man simply cannot accept the matters which the Spirit deals with — they just don’t make sense to him, for, after all, you must be spiritual to see spiritual things. The spiritual man, on the other hand, has an insight into the meaning of everything, though his insight may baffle the man of the world. This is because the former [the spiritual man] is sharing in God’s wisdom (1 Corinthians 2:14-15 Phillips).

Jesus has all the wisdom we need.

In Christ Jesus, my Lord, are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Colossians 2:3). This wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure, then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, and sincere (James 3:17).

When I lack wisdom, I ask God, my Father, who gives generously and graciously to all without finding fault, and it is given to me (James 1:5). Lord God, You promised that when I call to You, You will answer me and tell me great and unsearchable things I do not know (Jeremiah 33:3). The Lord turns all my darkness into light (Psalm 18:28).

The Holy Spirit abides in me and teaches me all things, and will remind me of all things (John 14:26) that Jesus told us and taught us. So I profess my memory is as strong as it ever was, and even better, thanks to the Holy Spirit living in me.

I have the mind of Christ Jesus (1 Corinthians 2:16). He is my wisdom (1 Corinthians 1:30). I hold the thoughts and purposes of Jesus’ heart in my heart. I make my attitude the same as that of Christ Jesus (Philippians 2:5). I am being renewed in the attitude of my mind, and I put on the new self, created to be like You, Lord Jesus, in true righteousness and holiness [and forgiveness and love] (Ephesians 4:23-24).

I put on the new self, which is constantly being renewed in knowledge according to the image of my Creator (Colossians 3:10). I let the Word of Christ Jesus dwell in me richly as I teach and admonish others with all wisdom from God, and as I sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in my heart to my God and Father (Colossians 3:16).

I have prayed that my glorious Father would give me a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, and that the eyes of my understanding may be enlightened so I may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the glorious riches of my inheritance among the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of His power to me because I believe (Ephesians 1:17-19). I have asked and am being filled with the knowledge of the Lord’s will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding (Colossians 1:9).

  • If Overweight, God Can Help With That Too

I profess God’s Word over my desires because I believe in His unfailing love and His immutable promises. Therefore I profess: I do not desire to eat so much that I become overweight. In view of God’s mercy, I offer my body as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God – for this is my reasonable service to my King. (Romans 12:1)

Our inner spirit must control our body.

My body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who dwells in me, whom I have received from God, my Father. I am not my own; I have been bought at a tremendously high price. Therefore, in the name of Jesus, my Savior, I refuse to over-eat. I will mortify the desires of this body and command it to come in line with the Word of God. I will honor God with my body. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)

I clothe myself with my Lord Jesus, and will not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature. I choose Jesus rather than indulge in my flesh. I command my body to get in line with the Word of God. I will eat only as much as is sufficient for me to be a healthy and active soldier for Christ Jesus. I present myself as a warrior for my Lord’s Kingdom use. (Romans 13:14)

I offer myself to God as one who has been brought from death to life, and I offer every part of my body to God as an instrument of righteousness (Romans 6:13).

With the wisdom of Jesus, I will beat my body and make it my slave so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize. Like a boxer, I will buffet my body and discipline it by hardship — and subdue it with Jesus’ mighty Spirit working in me. I will bring this body into subjection to my spirit. (1 Corinthians 9:27)

Everything is permissible for me, but not everything is beneficial. Everything is permissible , but I will not be master by anything, except my Lord Jesus. Food for the stomach and the stomach for food, but God will eventually destroy them both. The body is not meant for immorality, or excess, but for the Lord, and the Lord for this body. (1 Corinthians 6:12-14)

For the Kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17).

I eagerly expect and pray I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so now, and always, Christ Jesus will be exalted in my body (Philippians 1:20). Christ Jesus will be magnified through, glorified through, and receive praises from this body of mine.

Dearest Lord God, please remove falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches — and feed me with the food allotted to me (Proverbs 30:8). Father God, please, give us this day our daily bread (Matthew 6:11).

Merciful God, please restore in me the joy of Your salvation and grant me a willing spirit to sustain me in this! (Psalm 51:12)

  • God Gives From His Abundance

Everything in and under heaven belongs to our God (Job 41:11). The Father says, “My son, you are always with Me and everything I have is yours.” (Luke 15:31) I will not be anxious about anything, for it is my Father’s good pleasure to give me the Kingdom (Luke 12:31-32). As I first seek His Kingdom and its needs, all things will be added to me as I need them.

His bounty is so great compared to our needs.

Your Word tells us that whoever has pity on the poor is really lending to You, and You will pay back what has been given (Proverbs 19:17).

Following Your Kingdom guidelines, my loving God, I give and it is given to me, a good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over — poured into my lap. For with the same measure I use, it is measured back to me again (Luke 6:38). Good will come to me because I deal graciously and lend freely, and conduct my affairs with justice (Psalm 112:5). I am a generous person, so I will be prosperous; I water so I will myself be watered (Proverbs 11:25).

I trust my God to send the rains in their proper season so I can harvest my crop, because I carefully obey the commands He gives me — to love the Lord my God and to serve Him with all my heart and all my soul (Deuteronomy 11:14).

Because of my God’s generosity, I am like a tree planted by streams of water which yields its fruit in due season; whose leaf does not wither. Whatever I do prospers (Psalm 1:3). I am like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes. My leaves will be green and I will not be anxious, even in the year of drought, nor will I cease from yielding fruit (Jeremiah 17:8).

Lord, please guide me continually, satisfy my soul in this parched land, and make fat my bones [strengthen my frame]; and I shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring whose waters never run dry (Isaiah 58:11).

I sow bountifully and so I reap bountifully. I give cheerfully and my God makes all grace flow to me in abundance, so that in all things at all times, having all sufficiency in all that is needed, I abound to every good work (2 Corinthians 9:6-8). My glorious and gracious Father, I pray this promise knowing You supply all my needs, and You want me to let the abundance overflow to others.

  • Promises For Material Needs

The Lord God is my Shepherd, and I have no more want (Psalm 23:1) because Jesus was made poor, that through His poverty I might have riches (2 Corinthians 8:9). For Jesus came that I might have life, and have it more abundantly (John 10:10), that is, life in its fullest (Phillips). There is no lack in my house, for my God supplies all my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:4). My God crowns the bounteous year with His goodness and His paths drip with abundance (Psalm 65:11). My Gracious God has declared that He will satisfy His people with abundance and we will be filled with His bounty (Jeremiah 31:14).

God’s paths always overflow with abundance.

You, my dear Lord Jesus, came that I may have life and have it to the full (John 10:10). I acknowledge, O my Savior, that Your will for me is abundant life. Full life! The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy things concerning me and my life. I stand against him in Your mighty name; I bind satan from destroying my things, from stealing from me, from messing with my inheritance! And Lord Jesus, I gratefully accept the abundant life You came to bring me.

My God supplies all my needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). Dear Father God, please lead me to learn the many graces of my Lord Jesus, that though He was rich, yet for my sake He became poor so that I, through His poverty, might have an abundance (2 Corinthians 8:9). Please help me to continually discover the riches of Christ Jesus in my life today and every day.

God has stated: The wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just ones (Proverbs 13:22), and I thank my God Father that He has made me one of the just. I will do my part by acting on God’s Word and abiding in His love, knowing that God always does His part.

I trust in the Lord, and so I will prosper (Proverbs 28:25). I will be diligent in every deed I begin in God’s service, I will be diligent in every commandment He gives me, and I will always seek my God and His paths for me — and so I will prosper (2 Chronicles 31:21).

From the words of my mouth and the fruit of my lips I am satisfied with good things, and the work of my hands shall come back to me as a harvest (Proverbs 12:14). The Lord God promised: What the righteous desire will be granted (Proverbs 10:24) for the Lord blesses the home of the righteous (Proverbs 3:33). Say to the righteous that it shall be well with them; for they shall eat the fruit of their doings (Isaiah 3:10).

A faithful man will abound with blessings (Proverbs 28:20). All blessings shall come upon me and overtake me because I obey the voice of the Lord my God (Deuteronomy 28:2).

The Lord be exalted! For the Lord God delights in the well-being (health and happiness) of His servants (Psalm 35:27). Exalt the Lord, O my soul!

  • God Supplies the Power

As the Father gave me command — so I do (John 14:31).

I work very hard at whatever God directs me to do, as I depend on Christ Jesus’ mighty power that works within me (Colossians 1:29). For this I labor – unto weariness – striving with all the superhuman energy which He so mightily enkindles and works within me. [Amplified] This is my work and I can do it only because Christ’s mighty energy is at work in me [Phillips].

God’s resurrecting power is at work within me!

Not by my might nor by my power, but by Your Spirit, O Lord God Almighty, I will be able to do Your will (Zechariah 4:6). Father, please let the Holy Spirit fill and control me (Ephesians 5:18).

In addition to all I take up the shield of faith with which I can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. And I take up the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God (Ephesians 6:16-17) and I do battle along with Jesus, in Jesus’ mighty name.

I receive power because the Holy Spirit moves in me. I will not be quiet or ashamed. I will be a witness to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8) for my God and my Savior.

These attesting signs will accompany me because I believe: in Jesus’ mighty and holy name I can drive out demons, speak in new tongues, pick up snakes without harm, and when I eat or drink anything deadly it will not hurt me… And when I place my hands on sick people they will recover (Mark 16:17-18) that I may bring much glory to God, my Father.

I stand firm; I let nothing move me. I will always give myself fully to the work of the Lord, because I know my labor in the Lord is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58). I know no day is wasted and no prayer is wasted with my God.

I will not be deceived; God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows… I will not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time, I will reap a harvest if I do not give up (Galatians 6:7, 9).

God has spoken. Once, twice I have heard this: Power belongs to our God! And loving-kindness is His nature (Psalm 62:11).

Arise! Shine! For my Light has come and the glory of the Lord rises upon me (Isaiah 60:1).

  • Some Believe…

Some believe the Christians of this generation were not meant to acquire the workings that were given to the apostles. “Those feats were supplied only for the apostles, to gather a new church” they say. But I believe what Jesus tells us. Maybe He was speaking to the apostles at that time, but then followed with more general notes of encouragement. “He who believes in Me, the works that I do he shall do also” (John 14:12). “Go and make disciples of all nations… teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:19-20). “These signs will follow those who believe…”(Mark 16:17). And in Daniel we read more encouragement: “God has promised: Those who know their God shall be strong [in faith] and carry out great deeds” (Daniel 11:32).

Andrew Murray put it this way: Scripture teaches us that in all God’s leadings of His people faith has everywhere been the one condition for the manifestation of His power. [“Let it be done unto you according to your faith” (Matthew 9:29).] Faith is the ceasing from all nature’s efforts and all other dependence; faith is confessed helplessness casting itself upon God’s promise and claiming its fulfillment; faith is the putting of ourselves quietly into God’s hands for Him to do His work. [“The battle is not ours, but the Lord’s” (2 Chronicles 20:15)].

Now faith has to be in God’s all-encompassing power, His all-encompassing love, His all-encompassing wisdom and kindness. If you have faith in your faith to believe — so what, we can be sure that even demons have that. But faith in the God you serve — THAT faith can moves mountains. With Jesus beside me, the Holy Spirit dwelling in me. and God the Father directing me — I can do anything He needs done. This is my faith, and I will not be moved!

So each one of us, “however fitful your spiritual life has hitherto been, however unfavorable your natural character or your circumstances may appear” (Andrew Murray), we are called to be Christians. And being Christian means following Christ — walking in His direction, following God’s path, relying on the Spirit of God to empower and correct and teach. Every moment of every day (as long as it is called NOW) has a touch of eternity in it. I, for one, am plugging myself into that eternal strength and wisdom and love.

Let each be fully convinced in his own mind (Romans 14:5).
