Promises for health and wisdom and other daily needs

  • Praying For Myself

O Sovereign Lord please given me Your words of wisdom, so I may know what to say to all the weary ones, that I may encourage the weak. Morning by morning awaken me and open my understanding to Your will and Your ways. (Isaiah 50:4).

Give Your strength to Your servant, O my Lord (Psalm 86:16) who is devoted to fearing You. Lord God, please keep me from being envious of sinners; instead, let me always be zealous for the Fear of the Lord all the day long (Proverbs 23:17)..

Father God, please enable me not to use foul or abusive language. For Your sake I want everything I say to be good and helpful, so my words will be an encouragement to those who hear them (Ephesians 4:29).

Do what You have said, Dearest Lord, and let Your Holy Spirit teach me what needs to be said even as I stand there (Luke 12:12). Please take control of my mouth, O Lord, and keep my lips for You (Psalm 141:3).

Please keep my spirit from rushing to be angry, for anger abides in the heart of fools (Ecclesiastes 7:9). Help me to cease from anger and forsake wrath; to not fret at all, since it only causes harm (Psalms 37:9). But when I am angry for a good cause, please help me not sin, but to reflect and be still in my heart, so Your Spirit can let me know what is really needed at that moment (Psalm 4:4).

Help me, Lord, to practice patience, for patience is better than power, and controlling one’s temper is more productive than controlling a whole army (Proverbs 16:32). Please teach me to be patient with everyone (1 Thessalonians 5:14).

Lord God, my Heavenly Father, I beg You, please build in me the nature of being merciful in action, kindly in heart, and humble in mind. And above all, lead me to be truly loving.

  • Praying For My Family

Father, Almighty and ever-loving, everlasting One, I pray a hedge of protection around my family and me. I know in doing so that You will set a wall of fire around us that no harm can penetrate. Thank You so much for setting Your angels around us. You are our fortress and our place of refuge. We will not be afraid of the terrors by night or any fiery dart satan can throw at us. Because You are our refuge, we know no evil shall befall us, no accident will overtake us, and no plague or calamity shall come near us that You have not given us strength to handle. You give Your angels charge over us to keep us in all Your ways. God Father, I trust You will deliver us from all evil, and be with us in times of trouble. I exalt You, my gracious Father, because You continue to show me and my family salvation every day! I will not look to the future with fear, but will concentrate on the present with faith in You. I love You, O Lord my Strength.

Our whole family can be saved, for God has promised (Acts 11:14).

I pray every member of my family will be saved and be invited to Your table. For You want everyone to be saved and to understand truth (1 Timothy 2:4). For Jesus said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible” (Matthew 19:26).

I pray that our love for each other will overflow more and more, and that we keep growing in our knowledge and understanding of Your will; for I want to understand what really matters to You, so I may live pure and blameless until Christ Jesus returns. O please grant we be filled with the fruit of salvation — for this will bring much glory and praise to You, my God and King (Philippians 1:9-11).

You, O Lord, have called us to demonstrate Your righteousness. You will guard and support us, for You have given us to Your people as confirmation of Your covenant with them. You will make us a light to guide all nations to You. We through You will open the eyes of the blind and free captives from their prisons, and release those who sit captive in darkness (Isaiah 42:6-7).

I will teach the new disciples to obey all the commands Jesus has given us; and I will be sure that He is with me even to the end of the age (Matthew 28:20).

Listen! Hear the voice shouting make a highway for the Lord through the wilderness, make straight, smooth roads through the desert for our God. Fill the valley and level the hills, straighten out the curves and smooth off the rough spots. Then the Glory of the Lord will be revealed and all peoples will see it together (Isaiah 40:3-5).

Jesus, my Lord, my Teacher, You reach into our lives not through instruction but through story. Open our hearts to be attentive; that seeing, we may perceive; and hearing, we may understand; and understanding, we may act upon Your Word. In Your name I stand before You and pray. Amen.

  • Praying For My Country

Bless this country, O dearest Lord God, that we may ever be a stronghold of peace, and an advocate of peace in the councils of nations. Strengthen the bonds of friendship and fellowship among all the inhabitants of this land, and may the love of Your name be hallowed in every home and heart. O Lord of Hosts, stretch forth Your mighty arm to strengthen the men and women of our armed forces. Keep them temperate in all things, that they may serve You without stumbling and without stain; that they may lead us into greater service in Your kingdom, through Christ Jesus our Lord, we pray. Grant to the rulers of this country, and to all who shepherd Your people, the wisdom and strength to know and to do Your will for all Your people’s sake. Fill them with the love of truth and righteousness and make them ever mindful of their calling to serve this people in fear of You.

May all countries be blessed of God. May all countries bless God.

Dear God, ruler over all the nations, preserve our commitment to the common good. Let “vested Interest” wane and “advocacy” see beyond pure personal gain. Above all, help our elected officials to refrain from self-serving and to commit themselves to those things that benefit us all. Grant them wisdom to discern what elevates our goals and preserves our values. Teach them to speak with integrity and to hear with openness, so the opinions of all are given their due. Do not let them grow weary in their difficult tasks, for You uphold the weary. Give them — and us — joy in our citizenship and confidence in our future. Our only hope is in Your unfailing Love, O Lord our God.

Lord God, Almighty One, You are enthroned above and You observe the whole earth. You alone are God of all kingdoms. You alone created heaven and earth. Listen and hear, O Lord. Open Your eyes and see, O Loving God. Listen to the enemy’s words of defiance against the Living God — for we are known by Your name, to be Your people. Now, O Lord, our God and Father, rescue us from the power of the enemies that surround us. Then all the kingdoms of the earth will know You alone are God. (Isaiah 37:16-20)

I will obey the government, for God is the one who put it there. All governments have been placed in power under our God’s watchful eye (Romans 13:1). You have urged us to pray for all peoples, O Lord God. To plead for mercy upon them, and give thanks for them. So I pray for kings and presidents and all who are in authority, so we can all live in peace, in godliness and dignity. For this is good and pleases You, my God and Savior. (1 Timothy 2:1-3).

Jesus, You have given the keys of [not ‘to’, but ‘of’] the Kingdom of Heaven to Your followers (Matthew 16:19). So I say with confidence: Jesus gave me His authority to use His mighty name, and told me that what I bind on earth is bound in heaven, and what I loose on earth is loosed in heaven (Matthew 18:18-19). Therefore in the name of the Lord Jesus, the Christ of God, I bind the principalities, powers and rulers of the darkness of this world from taking captive the innocent people of this land, from spreading terror and fear across this land, and from blinding the eyes of those who want to see beyond the darkness. I bind and cast down spiritual wickedness in high places and render them harmless and ineffectual against me and my extended family in the name of the Lord Jesus, the Christ. (Ephesians 6:12).

O God our Father, who gives food for the body and truth for the mind, enlighten and nourish us so we may grow wise and strong to do Your will.

  • Effective Prayer

I believe what Jesus Himself told us: “If anyone says to this mountain ‘go throw yourself in to the sea’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe you have received it and it will be yours.” I believe in and agree with, and thus confess the Word of God to change my circumstances (Mark 11:24). I pray and know I receive (1 John 5:14-15) because I am obedient to You commands. I know that the Lord has set apart for Himself the one who is godly — He will hear when I call to Him (Psalm 4:3).

    Fervent prayer is powerful.

Jesus said, “My Father will give you whatever you ask in My name, and you will receive and you will have abundant joy (John 16:23-24).

The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are attentive to their cry (1 Peter 3:12). O Lord, let Your ear be attentive to the prayer of me, Your servant, and to the prayers of all Your servants who delight in revering Your name. Give Your servants success by granting us favor in the presence of all men (Nehemiah 1:11).

I am glad for all God is planning for me. Therefore I will be patient in trouble and prayerful always (Romans 12:12). Before I call on you, O God, please answer. While I am still speaking, please hear (Isaiah 65:24). May my prayer be set before You like incense. May the lifting up of my hands be like the morning and evening sacrifices of dedication to You and Your ways (Psalm 141:2).

If I speak, I will do it as one speaking the very words of God. And I will serve with the strength God provides, so in all things God may be praised through Christ Jesus — to Him be glory and power and honor forever and ever. Amen (1 Peter 4:11). Your Word that goes out [from my mouth on Your behalf] will not return to You void, but will accomplish what You desire, O God, and achieve the purpose for which You sent it (Isaiah 55:11). Your Word, O Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens. Therefore I speak Your Word to establish it in my life (Psalm 119:89).

I truly believer the end of all things is near. Therefore I will be clear-minded and self-controlled so I can pray (1 Peter 4:7). Gracious Lord, please do for me as You did for Moses: “I will help You to speak clearly and I will tell you what to do” (Exodus 4:15). I am relying on Your Holy Spirit to teach me at all times what I should say (Luke 12:12).

May the Lord our God show us His approval and make our efforts successful. Yes, O Lord God, please bless the work of our hands (Psalm 90:17) and our tongues.

  • Pray Without Ceasing

Father, in the name of Jesus, my Savior, I offer up thanksgiving and praise that You have called me to be a fellow workman with and for You (1 Corinthians 3:9). I commit myself to pray daily and not to turn coward or lazy — to faint, lose heart, or give up (Luke 18:1 Amplified). Fearlessly and confidently and boldly I draw near to Your Throne of Grace, that I may receive mercy and find grace to help in good time for every need (Hebrews 4:16).

We need to be diligent in prayer. So much depends on prayer!

Father God, I live in You and Your words remain in me and continue to live in my heart. Therefore I ask whatever I will and it shall be done for me, for when I produce fruit through prayer, You, Father, are honored and glorified (John 15:7-8). Whatever I ask for in prayer, I believe that it is granted to me, and so, believing, I will receive it (Mark 11:24). The earnest prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available (James 5:16). I am Your righteous because I am in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:21). So I pray to You.

This is the confidence I have in You, that whenever I ask anything according to Your wonderful will, You will hear. And if I know You hear whatever I ask, I know I have what I have asked You for (1 John 5:14-15). I have total confidence in this because I makes sure to obey Your commands and stay abiding in You. Therefore I do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in every care, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, I continue to make my requests and needs known to You (Philippians 4:6).

Dear Lord Jesus, You said, “According to your faith let it be done unto you.” (Matthew 9:29). You said that if we believed, we will receive what we ask for in prayer (Matthew 21:22). Lord, As You mature my faith, teach me how to pray effectively, and what to ask of You in prayer. You said, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.” (Mark 5:36). Help me not to be discouraged but to continue to pray and not to be afraid or doubtful; but only to believe and trust in You.

  • God Supplies Guidance

The Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth, guides me into all truth; and He will tell me of things to come (John 16:13). Father God, please give me, or work in me, sound discernment to understand each situation as the Holy Spirit guides me into all truth.

God can make the path straight before us.

God has promised: I will guide you along the best path for your life, and advise you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye upon you (Psalm 32:8). I guide you in the way of wisdom and lead you along straight paths (Proverbs 4:11).

I am the Lord, your God, who teaches you for your benefit and profit, who leads you in the way you should go (Isaiah 48:17).

In Your unfailing love You will lead the people You have redeemed. In Your strength You will guide them to Your holy dwelling (Exodus 15:13).

They shall neither hunger nor thirst; neither heat nor sun shall strike them, for He who has mercy on them will lead them — even by the springs of water He will guide them (Isaiah 49:10).

I will trust in the Lord, with all my heart and lean not on my own understanding. In all my ways I will acknowledge Him and He will direct my path (Proverbs 3:5-6).

I keep my Father’s commands, I bind them upon my heart, so when I walk they will guide me and when I sleep they will watch over me (Proverbs 6:20-22).

Show me Your ways, O Lord, teach me Your paths; guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are God, my Savior, and my hope is in You all day long (Psalm 25:4-5). Send forth Your light and Your truth, let them guide me (Psalm 43:3).

Teach me Your ways, O Lord; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors (Psalm 27:11). Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God; may Your good Spirit lead me on level ground (Psalm 143:10).

For the sake of Your name, lead me and guide me (Psalm 31:3). Lead me, O Lord in Your righteousness because of my enemy — make straight Your way before me (Psalm 5:8).

My faithful Father, whether I turn to the right or to the left, please cause my ears to hear a voice behind me saying, “this is the way; walk in it” (Isaiah 30:21). Please, guide me to follow Your paths.

You guide me with Your counsel (Psalm 73:24). Everywhere Your hand will guide me, Your right hand will hold me fast (Psalm 139:10).

The Lord has promised that He will guide me always; He will satisfy my needs in a sun-scorched land (Isaiah 58:11). He will guide my feet into the path of peace (Luke 1:79).

The Lord is my Leader (Micah 2:13). God is with us; He is our leader (2 Chronicles 13:12). You lead me beside still waters… You lead me in the paths of righteousness for Your name’s sake (Psalm 23:2-3).

The Lord God goes before me; and the God of Israel is my rear guard (Isaiah 52:12). The Lord my God has promised to perfect that which concerns me, the Lord will fulfill His purpose for me (Psalm 138:8).

Jesus assured me, “I am with you always even to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:20). He will be our Guide, even to the end (Psalm 48:14).

  • God Supplies Discernment

Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that the Holy Spirit clearly says in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons (1 Timothy 4:1). As the time of Your return approaches, there will be increasing deception and literally twisted doctrines taught by angels of darkness. Please develop a higher level of discernment in me, my Lord. Teach me to know truth so well that I will quickly recognize the most finely crafted lie. Help me never to abandon the faith to follow a lie.

We need discernment to stay on God’s path and not be deceived.

I am Your servant; please, give me discernment that I may understand Your statues (Psalm 119:125). For You give wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning (Daniel 2:21). Rebuke a discerning man and he will gain knowledge (Proverbs 19:25). Knowledge comes easily to the discerning (Proverbs 14:6).

Give Your servant an understanding heart that I may always be able to discern between good and evil (1 Kings 3:9). So that I may be able to discern what is best, that I may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ’s return (Philippians 1:10).

One is mature who, by constant use, has trained himself to distinguish good from evil (Hebrews 5:14). Please teach me to discern between the righteous and the wicked, between the one who serves You and the one who does not (Malachi 3:18).

A wise man’s heart discerns both the proper time and the proper procedure; for there is a proper time and procedure for every matter (Ecclesiastes 8:5-6). Whoever keeps the law is a discerning son (Proverbs 28:7).

  • God Supplies Wisdom

The unspiritual man simply cannot accept the matters which the Spirit deals with — they just don’t make sense to him, for, after all, you must be spiritual to see spiritual things. The spiritual man, on the other hand, has an insight into the meaning of everything, though his insight may baffle the man of the world. This is because the former [the spiritual man] is sharing in God’s wisdom (1 Corinthians 2:14-15 Phillips).

Jesus has all the wisdom we need.

In Christ Jesus, my Lord, are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Colossians 2:3). This wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure, then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, and sincere (James 3:17).

When I lack wisdom, I ask God, my Father, who gives generously and graciously to all without finding fault, and it is given to me (James 1:5). Lord God, You promised that when I call to You, You will answer me and tell me great and unsearchable things I do not know (Jeremiah 33:3). The Lord turns all my darkness into light (Psalm 18:28).

The Holy Spirit abides in me and teaches me all things, and will remind me of all things (John 14:26) that Jesus told us and taught us. So I profess my memory is as strong as it ever was, and even better, thanks to the Holy Spirit living in me.

I have the mind of Christ Jesus (1 Corinthians 2:16). He is my wisdom (1 Corinthians 1:30). I hold the thoughts and purposes of Jesus’ heart in my heart. I make my attitude the same as that of Christ Jesus (Philippians 2:5). I am being renewed in the attitude of my mind, and I put on the new self, created to be like You, Lord Jesus, in true righteousness and holiness [and forgiveness and love] (Ephesians 4:23-24).

I put on the new self, which is constantly being renewed in knowledge according to the image of my Creator (Colossians 3:10). I let the Word of Christ Jesus dwell in me richly as I teach and admonish others with all wisdom from God, and as I sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in my heart to my God and Father (Colossians 3:16).

I have prayed that my glorious Father would give me a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, and that the eyes of my understanding may be enlightened so I may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the glorious riches of my inheritance among the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of His power to me because I believe (Ephesians 1:17-19). I have asked and am being filled with the knowledge of the Lord’s will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding (Colossians 1:9).

  • Promises For Healing

We ask You, O Lord God, not to rid us of pain, but grant in Your mercy that our pain may be free from waste, unfettered by rebellion against Your will, unsoiled by thoughts of ourselves, purified by love for our neighbor, and ennobled by devotion to Your Kingdom. We pray this through the merits of Your Holy Son, our Lord Jesus.

Jesus has the power to heal. We must believe.

For God does not enjoy bringing affliction or suffering on mankind (Lamentations 3:33). Lord, You do not retain Your anger forever, for You delight in showing mercy (Micah 7:18).

I devote myself to listen carefully to the voice of my God and do what is right in His eyes; I pay attention to His commands and keep all His decrees. When I do this, I am well, for He is the God who heals me (Exodus 15:26). The Lord my God renews my hopes and heals my body (Psalm 47:3).

I fear the Lord and I shun evil, for this brings health to my body and nourishment to my bones (Proverbs 3:8). I fear His mighty name, so the sun of righteousness [each new dawn] will rise with healing in its wings and I will go free, leaping with great joy (Malachi 4:2).

If I worship the Lord my God, He will bless my bread and water, and will take away all my illnesses (Exodus 23:25). “For I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds,” says the Lord, because we belong to Him (Jeremiah 30:17). “I will certainly bring health and healing, and will indeed heal them. I will let them experience the abundance of peace and truth.” (Jeremiah 33:6)

The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in me. And just as He raised Christ Jesus from the dead, so He gives resurrection life to my mortal body by this same Spirit, His Spirit, living in me (Romans 8:11). I have already passed from death into eternal life (John 5:24). Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You are my life!

Surely Jesus took up my infirmities and carried my diseases. We considered Him stricken by God — smitten by Him and afflicted. But He was pierced for my transgressions, crushed for my iniquities. Punishment for my sin, that brought me peace, was put upon Him; and by His stripes I am healed. (Isaiah 53:4-5) Jesus Himself bore my sins in His own body on the tree — that I, having died to sins, might live for righteousness. By His stripes I am healed. (1 Peter 2:24). Christ Jesus has borne my infirmities and carried away my pains and sorrows (Matthey 8:17).

Jesus Christ redeemed me from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for me. For it is written: Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree. Jesus redeemed me in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith I might receive the promise of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 3:13-14). Abrahams’ blessings are mine.

Bless the Lord, O my soul. Bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: who forgives all your sins; who heals all your diseases; who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion; who satisfies your desire with good things so your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. (Psalm 103:1-5)

  • If Overweight, God Can Help With That Too

I profess God’s Word over my desires because I believe in His unfailing love and His immutable promises. Therefore I profess: I do not desire to eat so much that I become overweight. In view of God’s mercy, I offer my body as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God – for this is my reasonable service to my King. (Romans 12:1)

Our inner spirit must control our body.

My body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who dwells in me, whom I have received from God, my Father. I am not my own; I have been bought at a tremendously high price. Therefore, in the name of Jesus, my Savior, I refuse to over-eat. I will mortify the desires of this body and command it to come in line with the Word of God. I will honor God with my body. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)

I clothe myself with my Lord Jesus, and will not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature. I choose Jesus rather than indulge in my flesh. I command my body to get in line with the Word of God. I will eat only as much as is sufficient for me to be a healthy and active soldier for Christ Jesus. I present myself as a warrior for my Lord’s Kingdom use. (Romans 13:14)

I offer myself to God as one who has been brought from death to life, and I offer every part of my body to God as an instrument of righteousness (Romans 6:13).

With the wisdom of Jesus, I will beat my body and make it my slave so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize. Like a boxer, I will buffet my body and discipline it by hardship — and subdue it with Jesus’ mighty Spirit working in me. I will bring this body into subjection to my spirit. (1 Corinthians 9:27)

Everything is permissible for me, but not everything is beneficial. Everything is permissible , but I will not be master by anything, except my Lord Jesus. Food for the stomach and the stomach for food, but God will eventually destroy them both. The body is not meant for immorality, or excess, but for the Lord, and the Lord for this body. (1 Corinthians 6:12-14)

For the Kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17).

I eagerly expect and pray I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so now, and always, Christ Jesus will be exalted in my body (Philippians 1:20). Christ Jesus will be magnified through, glorified through, and receive praises from this body of mine.

Dearest Lord God, please remove falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches — and feed me with the food allotted to me (Proverbs 30:8). Father God, please, give us this day our daily bread (Matthew 6:11).

Merciful God, please restore in me the joy of Your salvation and grant me a willing spirit to sustain me in this! (Psalm 51:12)
