Walking in Authority

Heavenly Father, thank You for the authority You have given me to be victorious over the enemy in every area of my life.  Through the authority given to me through the blood of Jesus (1 John 1:7), Your most holy Word (John 8:31-32), Your Holy Spirit (Luke 24:49), unfaltering faith (2 Timothy 1:5), and the blessed name of my Lord, Jesus Christ (Mark 16:17), I will always prevail over the enemy.  Hallelujah! I am more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus who loved me (Romans 8:37).

Can we be too powerful in using God’s Word?

With Your continuing grace, Lord God, I will be sober and vigilant, because I realize the devil, as a roaring lion, is walking about seeking whom he may devour.  With Your Spirit guiding me, I will resist him, steadfast in the faith You have given me (1 Peter 5:8-9).  I speak it out loud, Lord: I submit myself to You, Father God, and I resist the devil. Therefore I know he must be fleeing from me (James 4:7).  Thank You, Lord God, for giving such authority to Your people.

I will be bold against the devil, demons, evil spirits, sickness, disease, and poverty, for Jesus is the Head of all rule and owns authority over every angelic and natural principality and power.  Jesus made a bold display and a public example in His triumphing over them (Colossians 2:15).  I am bold to say “Satan, you are a defeated foe; for my Father God and my Lord Jesus reign!”

I dare to proclaim the Word of God towards heaven, towards Hell, and towards earth.  I boldly say: The Lord is my Helper, and I will not fear what man can do to me (Hebrews 13:6). I am a believer and not a doubter (Matthew 21:21) Jesus told me that as long as I have faith and do not doubt (Matthew 17:20) but believes that what I say will happen, it will be done for me (Mark 11:23). I will not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind (James 1:6).

My heart does not condemn me, so I have confidence before my God (1 John 3:21). This is the confidence we have in approaching our God: that if we ask anything according to His Will, He hears us (1 John 5:14). Such confidence as this is ours through Christ before God. Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God Himself (2 Corinthians 3:4-5). Lord, You are my confidence (Proverbs 3:26). Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him (Jeremiah 17:7)!

I take the shield of faith – Your mighty Word – and I use it to quench all the fiery darts the enemy hurls in my direction (Ephesians 6:16).  I will overcome him at all times through the blood of the Lamb and the word of my testimony (Revelation 12:11).  With Your guidance, loving Father, I will refuse to believe every random spirit, and I will try the spirits to see whether they are from You (1 John 4:1).

How I praise You, heavenly Father, for the realization that the weapons you have given to me for spiritual warfare are not carnal.  Instead, they are mighty through You to the tearing down of evil strongholds.  I will use the weapons You have given to cast down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against knowing You, and with Your guidance I will bring into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 10:4-5).  Thank You so much, God of Peace, for crushing Satan under my feet, and for giving me the grace of my Lord Jesus Christ in all things (Romans 16:20).

Since I have such a great High Priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, I will hold boldly to the faith I profess (Hebrews 4:14), because in this world we are like Him (1 John 4:17). I decide to walk by faith and practice faith (2 Corinthians 5:7). This has been my practice, my desire: I obey Your precepts (Psalm 119:56). When I call, I pray You answer me, that You make me bold and stouthearted (Psalm 138:3). Because I love the Lord Jesus, I will fight the good fight!
