Praying to Live in the Present

Heavenly Father, I know that each day is a new gift from You.  Thank You for today, a day You have made.  I will rejoice and be glad in it (Psalm 118:24).  Through Your grace, I will wash in the cleansing, sanctifying waters of Your Word this day and every day (Ephesians 5:26).  The truth of Your Word sanctifies me (John 17:17) and I thank You, Lord God.

Let us pray to stay in God’s warming light this day.

Lord, through the Holy Name of Jesus I offer You a sacrifice of praise, the fruit of my lips (Hebrews 13:15).  Please help me draw thanksgiving forth from my innermost resources; reach down into the most secret places of my heart that I may offer significant thanksgiving to You.  Thank You for my parents who gave me life, and all those who have helped me along my way.  I am grateful for the victories and achievements I have experienced in spite of my hurts – the bruises and abuses that boxed me in when I was a small child.  You used them for good (Genesis 50:20), even though Satan intended them for my destruction.  You prepared me to listen to the inner voice – the voice of Your Holy Spirit.  You have taught me since my youth (Psalm 71:17)

Now, forgetting those things that are behind, and reaching forth to things which are before, I press on toward the goal to win the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus for me (Philippians 3:13-14).  You are my ever-present help, O Lord (Psalm 46:1).  Because You are always there, I will set You continually before me. Because You are at my right hand, I will not be moved (Psalm 16:8).  Therefore, my heart is glad, and I am thankful for all that You have done (1 Kings 8:66).

Give me Your grace to make the most of every moment of today and help me seize every opportunity that comes my way.  I will redeem the time today, and I will walk purposefully and wisely as You reveal Your Will to me (Ephesians 5:15-17).  Today, dear Father, I will trust in You with all my heart, leaning not to my own understanding.  In all my ways, I will acknowledge You, and I know You will direct my paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Father, my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also rests secure, and I will rest in Your hope (Psalm 16:9).  You are showing me the path of life each step of the way, O Lord.  In Your presence I find fullness of joy every moment of this day, and at Your right hand I experience pleasures evermore (Psalm 16:11).  Thank You, loving Father.
